c'mon drunky - if you hadn't you would have let down the anti-North posters on this site (e.g everyone else). It gives them more ammo, comfort and pleaure to reading about how bad we are at Prospect!

You have an over inflated opinion of how interested many of us are in North Adelaide.

BTW - what a piss poor salary cap breach.
North couldn't even do that right and make it a real issue ;)

Apparently you have to complete the course to get the accreditation even though he was actually doing his level 2 course through 2009!

Now who would argue that is not an over Technical ruling?

I'm not even interested in reviewing this. 8)

North has announced it will use brown coloured calico type bags for season 2010 and beyond.

It might pay you to check if the SANFL has a sponsorship arrangement with a paper bag manufacturer first.

$5000 would be pocket change for North, but say if they breach again by the same amount a harsher punishment will be handed out.

But does this mean that clubs that have been squeaky clean know they can go over the salary cap (in this case by $5000) and get away with no real punishment?

I wonder how far over you can go without getting a recruiting ban?

If that was the best they could come up with (even the SANFL said it wasn't deliberate) then North must be squeaky clean.
Can't pay a person as a coach a small figure even though he's an accredited coach?
I wouldn't be suprised if you found at least a similar issue at all clubs if they had their finances rummaged through with a fine tooth comb, probably much worse.

They can't impose any bigger penalty as the penalties for breaches under $5,000 are prescribed as being dollar-for-dollar.
And I don't think this instance warrants a call of 'squeaky clean' as it was simply an audit of the books, not an investigation by the salary cap investigation committee.
And you can pay a person a small figure as a coach, as long as he has the appropriate coaching qualifications. Wouldn't have been too hard to find out I wouldn't have thought.
Was White the first player North have paid as an assistant coach?

That would be like asking Rodney Adler to review his own financial managment...

I think the key word in the article which explains the whole situation is "deliberate".
If a club is found to have breached the cap deliberately, I'm sure the penalty would be harsher.

I'm sure this one was an honest mistake, but it doesnt stop other clubs from accidentally on purpose breaching the cap and say it was an honest mistake. :?

Shouldnt make a difference if it was delibrate or not. If you accidentally break the speed limit on the road, you get the same fine if you knew you were speeding.

Using that analogy North wouldn't have even been pulled over because of the cars that police allow to do slightly over the speed limit due to technical issues.
They'd be too busy chasing Norwood anyway, the drunk driver doing 200km/h! ;)

Not quite right. The drunk driver doesnt own up that he/she's drunk.
Doing 200km/h sober I'll accept. :)

If the owner of the car is questioned about it he soon tells the cops it was the previous owner, and a lot of drunk drivers do fess up when they're caught, I know my old man did when he was .284 after crashing into 2 parked cars!
