1/ going to the toilets at back of grandstand after the game to hear redlegs players singing rendition of its a grand old flag.

2/hearing player after club song yell out "there 5hite, we proved it today lads"

good signs for Central were that their two best players were Callinan and MacKenzie probably the two most important players currently at the club.

I wasnt at the game today, so cant comment first hand, but one of the club officials contacted me to say we most certainly didn't sing the club song.

Personally, I would sing it after any win (lol ok maybe not internal trial), but thats just me and thats probably why I only played scrubber footy

From that point on however, the Legs completely dominated, whilst the inexperienced Central outfit lost their structure and overused the ball far too often.

Will leave the Redlegs better players to those more familiar, but from Centrals point of view I thought Callinan did well, along with Hayes, Buckets, Spurr, Williams & Habel. M Westhoff also looked good and although brother Leigh had heaps of the ball- his distribution continues to let him down at times.

With no Cochrane, Lawry & Sibenaler in defence, and with Hardy looking to have copped an arm or shoulder injury - I'd say there would be some concern from the coaching panel at the minute.

Without knowing how far off those missing at the moment are - it is looking like the round one team may be missing 8-9 players from the 2009 Premiership side.

back six for round 1 imho will be

b: Hayes Hardy Goodrem
hb: Thomas Havelberg Williams

which is still a pretty handy backline still especially considering who is out injured.

Not that happy with the way we played, but a trial is a trial. Oh well, hopefully will build up over the next few weeks.

Number 19 - Mitch Frail

A KPP / Ruckman recruited to the club at the end of 2008 from the NSW / ACT Rams. A very tall but skinny athletic type who is very good both at ground level and in the air. Has potential to be a really good league player but would need to put on another 8 or 10kg.

Has a good set of hands and generally finishes of well in front of goal. Did have an ankle injury I think late in the year last season but played some really good games in the reserves throughout 2009 and also played a couple of league trial games last year.

I think he was only something like 74kg when he first came to the club and lived with Dogs skipper Paul Thomas for while. I remember Thommo telling me he was drinking something like 5 or 6 protien shakes a day to try and help bulk up his very 'fragile' frame.

Ignore what other Norwood supporters have said, it's all true.

I'm at the Adelaide Club tonight where there's a massive "hurrah we smashed the oiks" shindig been put on to celebrate our mighty win today. Chief Justice Doyle has shouted the bar to as many bottles of Bolly as we can drink and I reckon our drivers will be taking a lot of the Daimlers home tonight.

Must dash, Robert Champion-de Crespigny wants a word.

Thought young Habel had a good game and will hopefully help cover Sully till he comes back.
There is defiantly a spot open for one of the young ruckman to step into to help Buckets.

Will find out a lot more this week as a few more experienced players pull on the boots.

Missed it, and Bolly is quite nice actually..
I never joined the Adelaide Club, and declined joining the SACA when my name came up - I'd been put on the list as a child.
I'm really not much of a joiner, but I never turn down a Bolly or a Grange..

One thing that really impressed me about Norwood on Saturday out at Elizabeth was their direct style of play...

Nathan Bassett has them coming through the corridor a lot more than in the past under previous coaches and the scoreboard is reaping the rewards for the Legs as a result of this. Their ball movement is less static as well which of course a result of playing more direct football.

Also very impressed with the young Brigade of Evans, Ieleggio, Roberts, Jeffries and Cameron Shenton. I played footy at Golden Grove with Cameron's Dad and older brother, really pleased to see him perform with his opportunity, he impressed in the reserves last year as well.

I think the Legs may suprise a few with how well they might go this year...

I don't think too much will change at the parade this year. You have some promising kids, an untried coach and are playing in march. Its gr8 to be positive - see wat its like in the middle of July and you just had a 15 goal thumping and the kids are back playing ressies against men. I hope I'm wrong but history says I'm not !!!

I don't think too many Norwood supporters are getting carried away mate (unlike this time last season) ... Most that I speak to are abundantly aware of the challenge(s) that will be faced this year.

Did Nathen Travena play in the reserves against his old club? Where is his best position and would he be any chance to make it at a new club?

I think Bassett is a great coach from what little information I have been able to gather.

An AFL career awaits him.

By the years end a lot may be saying Norwood out performed when really it is the result of the sum of the parts being greater as a whole unit.

Yes, Nathan did play against the Dogs, his former club, in the reserves...

Actually asked Nathan Bassett before the game about how he is going and Bass spoke highly of his enthusiasm and said he is going alright at the Parade...

Nathan spent a bit of time on the wing, at half forward and then deep in the goal square as a crumbing forward. Didn't do anything spectacular but think he will keep a regular spot in the Leg's seconds...

Yeah, he was reasonably impressive also without being spectacular...

Presented well at half forward and kicked a couple of goals but probably should have finished off better with his opportunities in front of the big sticks, finishing with 2.3 from his 5 shots on goal...
