Port Dist coach Ricky Pearce is confident of proving alot of people wrong this year, he's happy with his young squad & recruits is my mail & not to write them off.
Another interesting rumour i heard is these Dist players that have left for Barmera are still able to train at Districts
I wouldn't give them the time of day to be honest, some of these blokes are quick to bag the coach yet they have very short memories.
I know of 1 player that went to QLD last home & away game & still got a game the following week yet earlier in the year when this same player got dropped to the Bs he made himself not available, his excuse for not playing B grade was he has to work.
A few of them got away with not training & playing but when they were penalised for missing training they sooked & slagged the coach in every way they could, very "1 EYED".

Not the reason it was pulled from production though wristwatcher.

The media manager and the CEO were somehow of the opinion that the show no longer had a following and was too costly to produce (at around $20k per year which included the DVD's that went out to clubs).

Lord knows how they came to that executive decision, seeing as there was no media survey of the clubs to determine this....

So this money has now been freed up will probably end up being divvied back to the clubs. A podcasted replacement, not unlike Rooster TV if anyone has seen it, is on the cards, although to my knowledge there has been no cost analysis of this and also have no format for this yet, even though we are only 4 weeks away from the season.

Further to this, Geoff Heard has come up with some hair-brained idea (no doubt at the request of the 2 above people) to spend an extra $50k so the Amateur League can have a FULL page of scores in the Sunday Mail each week, which will be available for all to see about 12 hours after you've seen them on the SAAFL website. You'll get to see your initial and everything

I think it has something to do with the SAAFL "media package" costs and was considered to be part of that expense.
FC will be able to shed more light on it but the clubs felt the overall costs of the "media" spend was more than they wanted to fund and after all, the clubs are the payers of those costs.
Minimal income from advertising hasn't helped this cause either, we raised more to save Ovingham I think I reckon!

Sorry Aceman, I have never questioned a statement of yours before, but when did "the clubs" decide this?

As far as I am aware, we have had minimal information regarding the "media package" and costings and have requested that information be presented at the the next meeting of the General Committee. My club has never been asked for its opinion despite being told that a survey was being sent out. I believe that a survey is about to be sent out and now we hear that Grassroots has been binned. What happens if the majority of clubs say that they would like Grassroots maintained and the 5RPH show binned?

As for Grassroots being too Div 1 concsious, I have watched all Grassroots episodes and I dont agree. My club was given more coverage than was deserved because of the Roo factor - and that was one of the reasons we recruited him. If anything, the Footy News is too Div 1 conscious and the photos are too B Grade conscious (ie) have you ever noticed that the photos are mainly of B Grade games? Do the photographers need a siesta?

I smell a rat again because that reason is utter crap...................

Sorry Jimmy, you are correct in what you've said. My wording was somewhat "off the mark" but without intent to mislead. Clubs have given the indication verbally in the past that the total media package is too costly and would not be prepared to fund it in it's current format

Yes - but more importantly now, the League stated at the AGM that they intend for ther media to be self funded out of advertising for 2010. That may mean something has to give if it cannot generate income, because I am fully expecting our club's calls to be reduced in 2011 by the amount we pay for the media.

Mr Aceman

I believe it is totally disrespectful that you try and steal a Div 5 player for one of your companies & clubs long sleeve jumpers - just because he has won a Div 1 medal (10 years ago)

Which new kid on the block has been left high & dry without a final trial due to the "double booking" on the 27 March by some dill within the other club?

Has Juniper left Norwood and seen training at SHOCs? Also Joe Quigley back out there. They have lost about 10 from their B grade so maybe the depth not there after winning the flag in the 2s. Ben Dray not too far away after recovering from a reco.
