Has Ironbank recruited much in the off season? Might end up transferring there during the season

News in from the Velodrome that Trevor 'TJ' Jenkin has resigned as coach due to increased work commitments. He'll be replaced as senior coach by Matt Kreig effective immediately.

Sad to see TJ go, has been a faithful servant of the club and did well to lead us into Div 1 when no one thought we could ever do it.

Ironbank vs. Athlestone @ Thunder Park

Athlestone to win by 20 goals and to piss themselves laughing when they see the size of the oval!!

Who really gives a rats arse about the size of an oval or the scoreline of a trail game? And I reckon the thunderers will be more competitive than you'd think.

No problems in Blackwood's camp. Rumour is club has recieved 53 registrations for U/17's alone, and before anyone else uses the 'poaching' tag on us, every one of those players approached the club to play with them, not the other way round. Blackwood also recieving healthy numbers in all other junior teams as well, with full credit going to their junior commitee in advertising the club in the local community.

All the best to TJ but probably time he moved on anyways. I reckon the Birdwood boys will be pretty keen to get a few wins for Kriegy, seems to demand a fair bit of respect around the club.

How many U 17's Blackwood teams will there be?
If only 1,...then these numbers could present quite a headache

That's interesting.
Know if was approached to go play up there or whether he was looking for a new club?

i have heard a rumour going around that "TJ" didnt quit as coach of Birdwood because of work commitments but rather it was that he did not have the backing of the players. Will we see Birdwood back in div 2 next year to make room for T.V

I doubt the loss of TJ will see Birdwood fall back into DIv 2. Kriegy would do as good if not better job then what TJ would have ever done.

If Birdwood are worried, perhaps they could call S Johnson back into the coaching ranks

Hahaha, you guys always like to make a "story" out of nothing!!
I can guarantee that TJ resigned due to him getting a new job and not being able to give the amount of time that he would like to coaching Birdwood.

He will still be involved around the club, time permitting, and if you knew TJ, then you would know he wouldn't take this decision lightly.
He had full support of the club, committee and players and we were all looking forward to another year with him at the helm so hopefully that squashes your "rumours".

Birdwood were lucky to have a good assistant in Matt Krieg who is willing to step up and take the reins.

Should be a good year for the Roosters and we are looking forward to coming up against TV in 2011 if another div 1 club makes room for them!!

looking forward to play them in 2011 i hear you were not to keen to play them in a 2010 trial because "div 2" were not good enough competition i think TV would absolutely smash Birdwood.

Not sure what you've been smoking but TV never approached us for a trial so I'm not sure where you get the idea that we were "not too keen to play them"?? :?

If the top div 1 clubs don't "smash" Birdwood, why would TV be able to?

Ironbank vs. Athlestone @ Thunder Park

Athlestone to win by 20 goals and to piss themselves laughing when they see the size of the oval!!

Athelstone won by 2 goals >edited by the moderators, no need for that< with a near full strength side. Ironbank played well with at least 8 A graders missing due to cricket/work. New recruits looked good in their first hit out and beware the Thunderers new forward target... looked really good. After speaking with a few Athelstone players after the game it was apparent they appreciated the small confines of Thunder Park on such a warm day. Oh Yeah... and The Chief had a run and did quite a bit of damage... I guess that will squash the rumours that he's playing for Darwin.
