I guess I shouldn't expect intelligence or sportsmanship from someone who quotes a flat out racist in their signature.

Enjoy your season, hope you don't get to celebrate too many football injuries through the year.

(I hope Boyd's leg recovers quickly for what it's worth. Norwood are a better chance of continuing their winning streak against Centrals with him in the team.)

Imaginative use of the word "streak"........you still clapping your boys off at half time when their a point down

Ok bored at work so here are my thoughts on a couple of Dogs players who i saw for the first time friday night,

Cameron Milne
Ok didn't get heaps of the ball and when he did his disposal was a bit wasteful BUT the upside is the bloke can run, he is very much an athlete, there were many times where he was burning through the center of the ground free but wasn't used. Wasn't as big as i thought he would be but has a fairly decent jump on him and backed into packs a couple of times. I personally see a fair bit of potential in him, what i really like was his decision making, despite his skill errors he was always trying to do the right thing with the ball. Think he could be very useful as a back-up to Buckets, especially after buckets has jumped into them all day and worn them down, Milne will make them work harder again by running them into the ground, may have to develope another specialty such as pinch hitting up forward if he wants to cement a spot in the side.

Josh Wittwer
Was very exciting in his first league hit out, is lightning quick and has and bring big engine to match. Hits the pack at a hundred miles an hour, on a couple of occasions this caused him to over run the ball, but when he does get it he uses it very well. Won a few center clearances late in the game which i know impressed Lairdy immensly. Will probably need a year in the reserves to get use to the bigger bodies but has that advantage of being able to play in the midfield as well as in the forward line. One to watch over the next 2-3 years is only 19 years old.

Jay Nash
class, class and class, played on a half back flank had six possesion inside the first 10 ten minutes, his disposal wasn't the greatest but he is renowned for being highly skilled. Took the kick outs they weren't brilliant but there wasn't alot getting offered. Will be extremly handy if he qualifys for finals.

Quality comment there. Wonder how you'd go if other supporters 'smiled smugly' at the news of Boyd's injury?

Boyds injury not that bad, Just a fracture instead of a strained calf.

Should be right by round 1 worse case round 3 against Westies.

This probably relates to all the games over the weekend...the new rule regarding touching or hanging on to players after a mark seemed to have many fans on Friday night a bit confused as to why the 25m penalties were being handed out so easily. Certainaly seemed to be more hot on it this week than last, in both the first 3/6ths with what looked like some very young umps (who did quite well IMO) and in the second half.
Trust the process.

Can see this being one of those rules that will cause the umps to get a fair bit of flack from the fans...especially if the 25m penalties end up resulting in goals and it ends up deciding a game.
Will be interesting to see if there is consitency throughout the season and how long it will take for teams to adjust and if they will change the way they defend so as not to give up easy 25's.
Trust the process.

It will be like any new rule. Hot on it over the trials and the first few weeks and then it will get relaxed and it will barely be paid over the remainder of the season.

Didn't this rule come in a few years ago and the umps were red hot on it early and then it didn't get paid at all after about round 5?

Good luck to them i say. It is one of the reasons, only a very small one, they have been so successful the last decade they have turned it into an art form. Their ability to hold up the opposition at a marking contest to allow their midfield and defenders time to set up has been very good.
