The CFL has licences for 6 different suppliers currently, the HFL only has an agreement with the shorts and socks through sportsscene. Therefore if they don't like sportsscene they have another 5 options to go with. All jumpers need to have the CFL and HFL logo on them in A grade by the start of the 2013 season. I'm pretty sure they won't enforce B grade and below.

You might want to check your details on that, my understanding is that as it was setup SportsCentre was the only supplier who could do jumpers, shorts & socks with the HFL logo, so unless the contract has been changed, that precludes any of the other 5 from the contest.
Incidentally, it's the beginning of the 2012 season not 2013 so you are as confused about it as a lot of others are and all teams are involved, not just A grade.

My mistake, definitely sportscentre and 2012. I can't see clubs forking out for 5 sets (A to 13) for jumpers in the next 2 years though. Clubs aren't going to want to have their old jumpers thrown out. 25 jumpers average per team at approx $45inc. per jumper. My rough calculations makes that to about $5600. No wonder there is so much trouble with this new CFL. Clubs spend more money to pay for them.

Heard Hahndorf may be struggling to field two sides in next fridays trial match against McLarens. A reliable source has confirmed this in saying the numbers on the track is not all that impressive. Given that some people are tipping them to give the flag a fair shake you'd imagine the numbers would be healthy not scant.

JB, the other little adjunct to this is that the manufacturer(SportsCentre) is not only paying the HFL a decent sum of money for the privilege of having the license and sole production rights to the league, but also paying a rebate of a minimum of 10% plus other benefits to the CFL as part of the "preferred supplier " arrangement.
If you think the 10% is not being loaded into the buy price, you're on the wrong track!
I've done the exercise of price checking every jumper manufacturer in SA, all of the 6 preferred suppliers are around 10-15% more than the others.
If that's not enough proof, then I'm not sure what is! BTW, by the start of 2012 season, every club jumper MUST have the CFL logo on them, no exceptions as the CFL have stated quite emphatically.

Understand where you are coming from CD. Just read the last CFL newsletter that did state all teams. I have done some price checking over the summer too and there is a definite hike in pricing with the 'preferred' suppliers. The only one that was half decent was kooga at $39+.

Ah yes, the company who has bought their way into the SANFL with a big bag of free goodies.
If anyone is game enough to tell me that "the take" isn't alive at West Lakes, then I'll show you a company who has bought their presence into SA by donating product to the SANFL in 2009. A supplier of rugby apparel from Queensland who has a base now in SA but still manufacture in Qld and off shore, their donation of freebies to the SANFL last year has earned them a "preferred supplier" status, now why doesn't that surprise me at the expense of "locally made products" and local SA companies.
The argument can't be based on price because no comparisons have been made, so it's all about we'll look after those who donate to our cause as is the SANFL way, you kiss my ar$e and you'll go all the way to the top.
Companies like Sekem, the largest manufacturer of footy jumpers in Aust. told Rosser & co what to do with their selection process and who can blame them.
Why bastardize your products to suit the likes of the CFL.
Come on CFB board members, convince me I am wrong!

Just keep the head in the clouds Rooster, 'tis people like you who no doubt have little or no valuable input into a footy club and are prepared to sit back and watch things disintergrate before your very eyes.
This forum is for all things football, this will have a dramatic effect on all footy clubs in the future but if you're not interested, change the station!

Think Mt Barker 17's are in a bit of trouble. Have also heard that they are paying a few of those junior recruits that have been cleared in..

not as many losses as you have written there i dont think.... neilson still has to make the cut at sturt so could be back, artis was training last night and has been all pre season, stapes is playing, fleet bros and o'gorman didnt make the dev's best 21 come finals time they were playing B's, bawden will be hard to replace.. but have picked up 2 players fom west adel.. including a BIG ruckman, another from paynhem that i know of... whats this about mcdonald on the sideline??

correct, Mt Lofty havent lost that many, still a cloud over Artis though??? Biggest loss is Bawden. the trouble is the quality of the replacement, i hear this big bloke from west adelaide can play, but he has massive shoes to fill, and the 2008 to 2009 results show that one player can make a massive difference, the only loss from the 2008 premiership was Cutting, with McDonald coming in (a quality player) but obviously had no where near the impact Cutting had.

Would expect the devils to be around the same area of the ladder they finished last year! cant see them being a threat to Uradlia or Blackwood.
