I was told if Parko bowls short balls like the one he got Bartschy with to Connor, square/fine leg will be retrieving the ball from the shallow waters of Silver Sands.

Pretty big sledge there for a side that's second on the ladder, with a chance to go top! Clearly they've gotten the job done so far this season..

I agree that Golds have a pretty good batting line-up that are in good form (posted 200+ in their last three games), but have to agree with Offcutter that Aldinga is hardly a mediocre bowling attack. A quick look at My Cricket has revealed both Schofield and Garrard are amongst the top 10 wicket takers, and are ably supported by guys such as Parko and Woody. This should be a great contest and will go right down to the wire.

Bad luck lads you win but miss out on finals ,from what i saw today i hope Vale dont miss out as Port Elliot /Maroons game should of been called off due to rain,Elliot needing 40 runs to get with rain pissing down game should of been called off or at least players come off like they did at Aldinga, but they played on and got the runs and get 6 points and Golds get a draw. What a season tho wish everyone got to play each other twice tho think that this has made the difference in getting in the 4 and missing out,but what do you do,win more games for a start would help :? ,good luck to those playing in finals my money is on Encounter Bay.

Bloods not sure how, but you've managed to say all that in 2 sentences. Which indicates to me that you are waffling! Bad luck to the Gold's for not being in the finals in 09/10 (a bad way to end a season), I believe every team in the finals series would be breathing a huge sigh of relief at their demise. The fact is that if Gold's made it they would have at least played in the GF and probably would have gone the distance, unlucky. With a few more quality players to be added to the list next season it may just be the year of the Bulls in season 10/11.

As a Mt Compass Gold player, I agree with Black Duck that yesterday was a disappointing way to end the season. While it may seem that rain has cost us a finals place, there were 12 rounds of cricket this year and we have paid the price for some not so good performances earlier in the year, losing some games that should've been won.

Having said that, it was a shame that we couldn't get on the park again yesterday after the down pour. However, I understand and respect Mucka's decision to call the game off although I believe there was a point where we could have got back on. What was a little baffling was how an umpire from another game was so vocal in expressing his opinion that no further action should take place. He is someone whom I respect very much, so I am sure his motivation was player safety rather than wanting to see one of his former clubs secure a double chance, and another to secure a finals berth.

Congratulations to the four sides who will compete in the major round. In particular congratulations to Pt. Elliot who were predicted by most to be well down the table this year. As to who will win? I truly don't know. If they can get their best side on the park, I would say Encounter Bay. Although Aldinga & McLarens have 2 great players in Bryce & JI and cannot be discounted. I would love to see Elliot win it as they are a great bunch of blokes .... well 10 of them are anyhow, but I fear they probably don't quite have the depth to do so. Good luck to all!

rock i think your time for improving was about 20 years ago. best just move on silently into the dark.

dazza mason tonning up yesturday. who woulda thought. was told he had a hip replacement a while ago. if this it true, its good to see him back moving well and amongst the runs.

compass to miss the finals. devostating for us. were probably the form side since chrissy. woulda been a good challenge to go up against nashy and co in finals. not be though.

well done to the bays, dingy, elliot and mclarens on making the 4.

now bring on the real stuff.

Don't want to talk about umpires Sherm when that qoute would be the perfect summary to a year of cricket from the Golds.

What does need to be said is well done Mt. Compass for taking a sh*t year in 2009/10 because of other clubs not striving to field teams in the highest level this Association has to offer. Hopefully some clubs might look at what happened this year and it starts changing the mindsets, after all Pt Eliott did it and are doing a fine job. One of the better sides IMO

Just imagine if Binns, Bartschy & Chopper were in Golds all year, I imagine 1 more win might have been definately on the cards.

Couldn't have said it any better myself Richard. Looking at stats and talking to people, your experience and cricket level is not as good as you might believe.
When you've won some District, ATCA and Grade cricket flags then come and see me tiger.
