Hadn't heard that myself Dutchy, but didn't see him at Thebby tonight ?

If he has, must have happened some time today ???

He mentioned on the 5RPH show last night he wasn't playing tonight as he had a slight calf strain...

Where did you hear this from ?

Can confirm its not a calf strain and is in fact a broken leg.

I realise it's not fashionable to say this on here, but i for one appreciate your write ups of the games, BP. I wasn't able to make it tonight, nor next weeks trial either so it's nice to get a feel for what happened and how players performed beyond a simple scoreline.

I too appreciated it BP, mainly because it meant I didn't have to do one.
Bit of kudos to me for the score updates people ;) C'mon

Funny Wedgie .The Sleeping giant Fuller lost last week . :D
Oh well at least we have an Eagles forum to talk on now ;) I understand many of you called for it now we have it!!
There were good signs mainly for Centrals but a few for the Eagles .
Centrals had trouble taking the ball from full back from kick ins .Something I haven't seen in the past from them.At times the Eagles defensive actions were great.Centrals were kicking the ball forward at times to 3 or 4 eagles players. The Eagles flooded something not seen in over 10 years under fuller.
Eagles forward line lacked Welsh and heaven forbid there were at times we had only talls .English and Hill were our targets .
Goldsworthy and staple had games they'd like to forget
Redden improved on the game against south .

But well done Dogs
A big boo to the SANFL for kowtowing to the GAYFL .those lights were a disgrace last night .
And I was looking forward to going to Elizabeth and watching two games and chatting with bigphil .

thoughts of someone who had way too much to drink at a trial

- both teams had heaps of outs evident Luke Powell and Chris Gowans played in the 'reserves'
- Jash Nash looked a class above (despite chris g thinking he should work his way through reserves
- Hardy had a cracker and played at full back possible replacement for Sibenaler
- Mitch Frail has not put on any weight since last season played well though
- Josh Wittwer was exciting to watch over ran the ball a couple of times through sheer enthusiasm
- Don't think Eddie Sansbury thought there was any point being out there, not finals yet!

Oh Please, complaining that someone bothered to write up a detailed report on a trial game.

I'm am sure plenty of people appreciated the work, myself included. Thanks Big Phil.

A couple of personal notes from what I saw

-Don't know whether it was the return to night footy at Thebarton (where Gridiron used to be played in Summer Nights 1988-94) but it it had distinct American Football flavour with mass interchanges of teams coming on and off.

- Surprised by the turn out given the late venue change and what else was on entertainment wise.

- Both sides nowhere near full strength and not going 100%.

- That said, impressed with Central's physicality and accountability which got better as the game wore on.

- Thought Eagles would be fitter at this time of the year and whilst they probably had more possessions and inside 50's their forward movement deteriorated under the Dogs pressure.

As yes on Thursday I will join up as a paid members of the Bulldogs. A deal is a deal, Big Phil was very gracious about it last year so I should do the same.

Excellent crowd IMHO.

I wasnt really looking forward to a 6 quarter game with the mix of reserves and league. But I actually really enjoyed the game. For the dogs I thought Andrew Hayes was BOG. Nash Hardy Williams Callinan Thomas Jenner were also very good contributors.

SANFL is back. Love it.

Yes Boyd's calf injury is infact a broken leg.

GEe didnt it pish down last night. Would hate to have to play on the oval today. NOT!!!!!!

The Eagles could have made a decent team from those who were on BBQ duty! Good to see, including the CEO!

Crikey - two Dogs games in a row with broken legs.
Horrible stuff.

Shame for Boyd, was really looking forward to seeing him play for the Dogs.

Thanks for those who have offered their thoughts, in particular BP, I feel like I am up to speed despite not making it out to Thebby.

Congrats to the AFL - clearly Elizabeth would have been cut up significantly had the matches been played last night with all this rain we have had.

Unless Boyd was telling porkies - his "broken leg" cant be that bad as he said he had already resumed training and felt he could have played this weekend. Maybe a stress fracture though which may still need a few weeks rest.
