quite right pistol....although you forgot to mention that the exec. can make up whatever the hell they like.
this extra day was brought in to cover heated out days which is fair enough but didnt think that maybe it could be used if a day was affected by rain.

this extra day rule ( which is not actually in the rule book, only in the progam ) will cause the exec. nothing but more headaches......watch this space. There's a storm brewing and its not the one due to arrive later tonight!

Ecky wrote:A clarification of the rule regarding reserve days is found on the website

CCCA Website wrote:If the match has lost time during either day, then the reserve day is to be used to complete the overs required under Rule 6.5(d), unless both captains agree not to use the reserve day.

Please note that scores must still be rung through to Jan McTier by 6.30 pm on each day of play, and advise her if reserve day is going to be used.

I hope this clarifies the situation for everyone!

This is the rule....but it does not mention anything about reserve days.

(d) The minimum number of overs for each day’s play is 65 overs for both minor and
major round games, subject to any adjustment made under Sub-Rule 6.5(e).

(e) Whenever either a change of innings occurs during the course of a day’s play or
time is lost for unforeseen circumstances, the minimum number of overs
remaining to be bowled on that day will be adjusted in the following way:-

(i) first, calculate the number of minutes scheduled for play for the remainder
of the day (allowing 10 minutes for the change of innings, if appropriate);
and

(ii) then, divide the result by four and round up to the nearest whole number
(if necessary) to fix the adjusted minimum number of overs.

Then there is another major round rule....

7.1 Match Results

(a) If the team that bats second in the first innings of any match does not receive the
number of overs to which it is entitled, is not dismissed and does not pass the
score of the team that batted first, then the match is drawn.

(b) For all the purposes of these Rules, a match is drawn if it is abandoned or
cancelled for any reason other than the forfeiture of one of the teams.

(c) Except in the case of a match that is drawn, the team scoring the greater number
of runs in its first innings will be taken to win on the first innings.

(d) At the end of a minor round match, points will be awarded according to the
system described in Rule 7.2.

(e) At the end of a major round match, the winner will be:-

(i) if an outright result is obtained, the outright winner; or
(ii) if no outright result is obtained, the winner on the first innings.

i know! don't remind me of that! i don't see the point in having rules when the exec reserves the right to change any and all of them if they see fit. it's a bit of a joke really.

understand completely, my concern is that there always seems to be "grey area" in the match rules and interperatations which seems to pop up every finals campaign. it just should happen

This is the biggest joke of the year. I cant believe our ecex who also cant find the rule in the match rules have given this as there official position. There will be alot of Phone calls going back and forward if the rain dose come. Say Nek have Fitzroy at 9 for 150 and they lost 10 overs. Do they have to come back. Fitzroy would be smart to say yes and hope Nek cant get all there Players.

Here is an idea if you make up a rule put it in the rule book. What a waste of time having an exec comittie.

Ross Smith just won the one day comp GF by 1 run. After being bowled out for 99 Ross Smith mowed through Northern Wolves top order to have them reeling at 6/23 before a fight back after a rain break

Glenys Phillips and Ian Amey went to the game to investigate stuff that happened during the week. Whilst there a paralowie player spilt the beans on the fact he has played under a false name the whole year thus forcing Glenys and Ian to advance Enfield on default to the GF. Good luck Enfield and good luck to the bloke who spilt the beans :P

If Paralowie played someone under a false name for the whole year, the player and the club should be suspended for a least a year, just blatant cheating

If this is true why are the Exec still letting Paralowie play in the Div 3 final. Surley as a club they should be punnished.

Great effort by our A grade to get up today. Chasing 300 in a semi final is no mean feat thats for sure. The lads are pretty pumped for a shot at the title. Should be a great GF (weather permitting ofcourse ;) ).
Good luck to Enfield and Adelaide Luth in the div 4 GF. I would think Enfield would start favs but you never ever know whats gonna happen in a GF.

Cheers spinny and i will definately be there in some form or another. I know Giggs has heard about my four wickets this year so Bourkey had better train the house down.
