What ever happened to Strange returning for the Ramblers?

Is he still a chance to play next year or didn't he return to the state, i assume he had left SA?

Yeah he's back with us, has trained a number of times & at club functions etc. just not playing sadly. Too many commitments which is totally understandable.

Will be back next year though! Great player and club man, will be fantastic to have back properly. Better not take my spot though ;)

Too many kids + trying to find a house and settle in + back in a new job = no time for cricket yet unfortunately.

Not a good sign for the batters in the competition for next year! Good news for the ramblers, and the association though!

would love to hear peoples thoughts on team selections coming into finals . Do you pick your best side or reward the loyal players who have trained and played all year. And do the old boys that have been around forever gain automatic selection.im sure you pick your best side in section one but am interested to hear peoples thoughts on lower grades

I personally, not from a clubs view, would like to see those that played the majority of the year in that grade get a game, before someone thats filled in for half the games of the year, in that div or lower. Obviously it varies on how many and who have qualified for the finals in that division, but definitely an interesting point!

Nope, not even picking the best side in Sect 1 if they haven't done the right thing throughout the season as it sends the wrong message and is short term gain for long term pain. No one gets automatic selection for us. We don't have any 'superstars' who could come in and win a game anyway.

Not sure who's side I am on here.
D12 has a tough job as captain of a superstar team with some BIGGGG egos, but have all done their jobs at some stage or another this year.
ab could feel let down by said captain IF he wanted to be, BUT ab you have been in the same position before as cptain of an even higher grade, so you know how hard it is to drop or omit mates.
Having said that, the Moeman has been at EVERY training session, both Tuesday & Thursday, ALL year yet has not graced the hallowed playing field yet!
One would say that players are worried about Moeman's playing ability  , and also worried about their own averages
Had D12 picked the Moe earlier, there would be no dicussion needed ;)
Hope you 2 poofs can work it out!

Yep. Getting dropped for a Final sucks. We had an instance where a bloke left at Christmas for Interstate and I was dropped for the semi because he became available despite not playing a game post-Christmas. That really did bite the big one. I played on at the club though, loyalty was more important to me but I made my stance clear. Wasn't happy and nor should I have been. Worst part was the skipper was over ruled by other parties at the club.

IMO its not a cut and dry argument, well not at our club anyway. Due to the 1st year (that i have seen) we have massive numbers and blokes are missing out on a game every week. So in a perfect world if you dont train you dont play, simple.
But when your dealing with life members who range from 37 to 50 odd who are legends and have trained and played for decades it becomes far more difficult. And what about the other guys who work, who have played for years that cant train every week?

It is a fine line and trust me not easy to balance. Especially when you do try making some blokes train it goes down like the hidenberg.
The culture at our club has changed massively (for the good) this year in regards to picking teams but i dont think you can expect to change everything overnight without risking losing the fabric and the great people of our club. Wow that was serious!
