The weather on Saturday isnt looking good by any means - showers increasing. Will this be another case of the World v Fitzroy.

Yep, Mother Nature is just a conniving mole who hates the lot of ya's..........intensely.. :p ;)

Shouldn't be too bad for the boys batting this week if the rain's not too heavy. Ever tried bowling with a piece of soap?? :? No swing, no cut, just skidding cannon fodder. ;)

Once again the assosiation have stuffed up there is no law in the match rules that look at this. The wording on the program says if it can not be completed. So maybe it is to there descretion. Not smart they put it in the program but it is not in the match rules. So my understanding is it would only be used for the heat policy if we lost the whole day. If we lose 20 overs say i believe the game would be a draw if you did not make the runs and the top ranked team would go through.

Surely the same rules would apply for finals as would normal season? Work out time lost on day 1, add day 2 and divvy the overs up accordingly? OOOR complete the overs on day two and roll over into day 3? Come on lets be serious, with Monday being a reserve day should be no excuse why the games cannot be completed!

I would just like to say the George does not represent NEKCC in any way. We know that despite making 297 that the game isn't over until we take all 10 wickets tomorrow

A clarification of the rule regarding reserve days is found on the website

CCCA Website wrote:If the match has lost time during either day, then the reserve day is to be used to complete the overs required under Rule 6.5(d), unless both captains agree not to use the reserve day.

Please note that scores must still be rung through to Jan McTier by 6.30 pm on each day of play, and advise her if reserve day is going to be used.

I hope this clarifies the situation for everyone!

This is the rule....but it does not mention anything about reserve days.

(d) The minimum number of overs for each day’s play is 65 overs for both minor and
major round games, subject to any adjustment made under Sub-Rule 6.5(e).

(e) Whenever either a change of innings occurs during the course of a day’s play or
time is lost for unforeseen circumstances, the minimum number of overs
remaining to be bowled on that day will be adjusted in the following way:-

(i) first, calculate the number of minutes scheduled for play for the remainder
of the day (allowing 10 minutes for the change of innings, if appropriate);
and

(ii) then, divide the result by four and round up to the nearest whole number
(if necessary) to fix the adjusted minimum number of overs.

Then there is another major round rule....

7.1 Match Results

(a) If the team that bats second in the first innings of any match does not receive the
number of overs to which it is entitled, is not dismissed and does not pass the
score of the team that batted first, then the match is drawn.

(b) For all the purposes of these Rules, a match is drawn if it is abandoned or
cancelled for any reason other than the forfeiture of one of the teams.

(c) Except in the case of a match that is drawn, the team scoring the greater number
of runs in its first innings will be taken to win on the first innings.

(d) At the end of a minor round match, points will be awarded according to the
system described in Rule 7.2.

(e) At the end of a major round match, the winner will be:-

(i) if an outright result is obtained, the outright winner; or
(ii) if no outright result is obtained, the winner on the first innings.

Likewise Pistol. I searched the 2009/10 C&CCA Match Rules document front to back and couldn't find the quoted section. :? Ecky?? :(

Personally, the mere suggestion of reserve days in social cricket is just plain ridiculous. What happens to people who can't get the time off on the Monday and for example, one team could only supply say 4 of the 11 players named for the Grand Final..?? :? Defies logic to me.

agreed Wino, i just want it clarified and sorted out before tomorrow really as unrealistic as that is. To be honest i can see an emergence meeting being called if tomorrow gets rained out as there will be plenty of teams pissing and moaning about what the result should be.
