Interesting talking about the points system last night with Glenn Rosser. In the Barossa they have really made an attempt to "even" things up. For example Freeling have 18 points and Tanunda have 3. Apparently there is scope to apply for more points through the GSFL which may already be happening. I think clubs like ourselves and others below should get more than 2 points more than Willunga, Strath etc
Agree LF, clubs shouldnt have to build for 4 or 5 years just to have a crack at finals.
My idea (with very little thought) would be:
Top 2 get 6 points - could recruit 2 country footballers.
3rd & 4th get 9 points - could recruit 3 country footballers.
5th, 6th & 7th get 14 points - could recruit 5 country footballers with playing a colt each week.
8th to 10th get 21 points - could recruit 7 country footballers. Clubs this low are probably playing one or two kids each week anyway.
If clubs choose to load up down the bottom & cant fit there players in to the points the following year (jump from 8th to 3rd for example), too bad, get rid of your recruits. This would solve issues such as he just moved in to the area, we dont have the population of other towns etc. Anyone got any thoughts on this??

I understand you would be dissapointed with them leaving, they're quality blokes but they're not the first to leave you & wont be the last. Facts are Clay did not chase these blokes, Clay didnt have Tims or Ritters numbers, he was given them by people at the Morphies FC who said that they wanted a change, why wouldnt he call them?? Perhaps instead of a few branding him a snake or poacher, find out the facts, its amazing how quickly you turn on your own locals. Speaking of that, have they ever put Sam Mahonys photo back on the wall?
Turning on locals is a big call WOW. Players are always welcomed back to the club. What's more surprising is that someone at Morphies thought of Ritz and gave Clay his number...he hasnt been sighted for months!
Sammy's photo was sent to Kingston, Via Menengie, Via Jervois, Via Myponga if my memory serves correctly...with his new fitness regime he is starting to look like he did when he was at Morphies, so the photo doesnt look so out of date now

Sorry RF, but i need to comment on this. I get on well with both Jacquesy and Danno, but they both signed contracts back then, that was the reason they were not cleared. I don't know if Hunt has signed a contract, wouldn't be that wise if he has been playing at South. Everyone goes on about, its all about the juniors, promote your juniors, juniors are the future and so on. But then the clubs get screwed over when they get offered a few bucks more from an other club and the clubs are expected to give them a clearence straight away after they have commited to the club. I agree that keeping a guy that doesn't want to be there, is not the best option, but how about sitting down with the player and discussing the issue at hand.
I'm pretty sure i know who you are RF, and of course i do not know the whole situation (live a bit far away) but are you not a Life member at the sharks? Why would you go to Willunga? I have got mates at Willunga, so that is not a problem, but you have been one of the biggest advocates for Aldinga on this forum for the last years, talking about development of the club both on and off the field and then you leave. In my opinion it takes alot for a life member to just leave a club. I just don't get it? You will only play B grade up there, so it can't really be striving to play a better standard of footy?

Ok DS 1st paragraph, Fact - With the way it was handled with Jacquesy and Danno both have said they would NEVER return to Aldinga and both never have. This hurt the club alot and as you might know even from a disctance the way things went down between not only GSFL clubs and Aldinga it was easy to see that it hurt the playing stocks of Aldinga in their immediate future and for years to come, more than you will ever know with the amount of rumblings from down this way. I do agree sit down with the player in question and ask questions, heck even try convince them to stay, but in no way should threats be made to make the young player miss a year of footy and further damaging Aldingas reputation by not clearing him and ensuring yet another talented player will NEVER play at Aldinga again. If you knew the situation I was actually in the first instance speaking to both parties to try get an amicable outcome and now unfortunatley that ship has sailed.
Paragraph 2 - Yes I am a Life Member at Aldinga and have done many roles to help the club out to install a better reputation than it once had, I worked tirelessly on getting people into the club and especially since the Jacquesy saga went down found it very hard. I have gone to Willunga to be involved in a more family oriented club as some things happened personally at Aldinga that I was and am still very disappointed that could happen. In no way was my decision an immediate reflection of the club itself but more of individuals actions. I could go on forever about certain things that need to change in Aldinga and need to be done and quite honestly I have tried for long enough to help and do these things only to find I am pushing shyte uphill so to speak. Having a young family now my priorities have changed.
I have never ever claimed to be an amazing footballer but I do know that my efforts on the field and off replicate my personality and am not worried about explaining my personal details with you or anyone else. You only need to know that it would not be a small thing to make me leave and as I have said I was very disappointed and those that know me well would know I stick to my word and have done more than you could imagine for that club in the last ten years.
To say it was to better my footy is not correct I am doing it to better my family and personal life and know my efforts will be appreciated with what ever grade you think I would play. I am looking very forward to being involved with good people and a good club and I think after only winning 10 games in 10 years and captaining every side aldinga has had I deserve a shot at doing something for myself without being questioned.
I have alot of good friends at Aldinga and also at Willunga and can safely say my enthusiasm is back to play the best footy I can and to further help others around me get the better out of themselves.
Sorry everyone else for my rant - Rodney out.

Fair enough RF, i get what you are saying. I know you have put plenty of hours in down at the club, both on and off, but that is why i don't get it. All the work you have put in and talking about the future, but you will not be there when things hopefully turn around for Aldinga. If you have had a falling out with someone at the club, that is fair enough, but i don't think you mentioned it before? You mention, that you deserve to give it a shot else where with out being questioned. Sorry mate, when you are a LIFE member, the question has to be asked (especially when you go to Willunga).
I do not agree with the things that you say about the Jacquesy saga effecting the club long term. Yeah, a few guys got pised off, and left. The club has made some bad decisions, both coaching and player wise. Just look how many coaches the club has had in the last 12 years, no stability. Some of the guys that were getting paid back in 2008, was a joke! This has hopefully changed with Brad down there now. The thing with aldinga is that they need to start learning from these mistake and not make them again.
Why would anyone sign a contract for local footy anyway, just dont get it? Others are welcome to comment.
Anyway this should of been over on the Aldinga forum, but i did mention Willunga once.

This is true but don't try starting rumors Yetti. Scott just happened to be having birthday drinks with friends. Scott will this year be playing for player life membership end of story.

Sorry Spot on. I wasn't aware that posting a fact would be a rumour. I will be more careful in the future. What do you think Scott will do next year once he has received his club life membership?
