1 player was semi retired and was offered a large amount of $$$ to play and an assistant coaching role. Big $$$ in comparison to his earning capabilities when he was in his prime.
1 player has self doubt issues about where he would fit into the wealth of talent the Emu's have in the on ball brigade and is now playing for 500% more in his pay packet. A First pick A grader in my opinion tho
1 player was a lucky selection in the GF side and since that day has not been seen around the club.
Thankfully the Emu's have been able to hang onto their "blue chip" players, this core group of players have had MASSIVE offers thrown at them however choose to stay for the good times, they certainly respect what the club has provided them and this is a way of paying it back. Sure as a player im a little pissed that my own team mates would do this but as a club we are 100%fine and look forward to the up coming season.

Of the top 5 I reckon Compass will be the side that is most vulnerable and when these five play Compass, it will be game on. In 2009 only Goolwa/ Pt Elliot were capable of beating a side in the top five.
6th Goolwa
A club that has improved tremendously. Some good juniors from LF should be coming through.
Quality midfield with Yeo and Ewer with young Jones doing well in ruck. Will miss White. Young side who run the ball well with heaps of skill. Very astute and proffesional coach who got the best from his players. No recruits in the system as yet but will surprise with a couple of solid ins.
Archilles Heel....Young side that will be a little inconsistant
7th McLaren
Improved in 2009. Kept almost all of last years players. Will need the youngsters like Pistilli, Williams, Natale, Khonke, Gentel, Zohar etc to progress. A bit of experience in Scooter McCade, Cam Hockey and Hanny added to the list. Struggled against the top 5 last year. Reasonable depth and they have had a tough pre season. They have coach who knows what is needed to win.
Archilles Heel....Grape Vintage going a bit longer this year. Why do so many of McLaren players work in the wine industry?
8th Encounter Bay
Had a shocking 2009 but will improve. Mature aged coach coming in who will implement the skills from Sturt. Played some very good footy at times. Favourite son Modra to Assist and may help in picking up a couple of gun players. Need big Blum to play the footy he is capable of and Baggs continues to impress. Like McLaren they need the juniors who played a bit last year to step up.
Archilles Heel....Coaching Panel a little late in Appointment and missed some recruits
9th Yankalilla
Father Son coaching Panel is interesting. With their recruiting will have a very good midfield. Lack a bit of depth. Always a tough club and always have a go. Could go as high as 5th but will need a bit of luck.
Archilles Heel.... A long way from anywhere and not many players come out of the sea
10th Myponga
Could finish anywhere from 5th to 10th. A strong and happy club. Very solid Coaching panel with Sambo and Deacon. If young Hunt from Aldinga/South Adelaide plays every game they will do very well. Tomlinson and Hutchy back and some very impressive U17's from 2009 will give them the depth they have lacked since Deacon left.
Archilles Heel....Would have to be closest to the strongest Social Club going round. Can Sambo and his uncompromising coaching style get the balance of a good time of the field to a winning time on the field
If Aldinga even clear him in the first place. Lets hope for his sake they do the right thing and don't do another 'Jacquesy', would be a very bad decision on their behalf if they try keep another young talent from doing what he wants to do and play with his mates. If they do I can assure you alot of people will be turning their nose at the thought of ever playing at Aldinga.

Firstly BRD i have nothing but respect for the Morphies FC but this MASSIVE $$ stuff you keep harping on about is utter crap. Pongy dont have massive $$. I understand you would be dissapointed with them leaving, they're quality blokes but they're not the first to leave you & wont be the last. Facts are Clay did not chase these blokes, Clay didnt have Tims or Ritters numbers, he was given them by people at the Morphies FC who said that they wanted a change, why wouldnt he call them?? Perhaps instead of a few branding him a snake or poacher, find out the facts, its amazing how quickly you turn on your own locals. Speaking of that, have they ever put Sam Mahonys photo back on the wall?

Interesting talking about the points system last night with Glenn Rosser. In the Barossa they have really made an attempt to "even" things up. For example Freeling have 18 points and Tanunda have 3. Apparently there is scope to apply for more points through the GSFL which may already be happening. I think clubs like ourselves and others below should get more than 2 points more than Willunga, Strath etc
