Thought that the Eagles showed a better structure in their stoppage clearance work than under Ron. The coach also made plenty of moves, I think he is looking for more around ground flexibility. Expect to see Grocke down back on occassions, Jarrad off a half back line, Cheep popping up all over the place and Treeby more on the ball than wing. Worried about a 'soft' Redden and pace of Grieger and Miles in defence.
Interesting to note that kaikuyu (sp?) grass has invaded the surface of Noarlunga making several areas a lot more spongy than they previously were.

For those who care about the future of the great sport of Aussie Rules Eagles faced South in both the u16s and u18s at a very windy Noarlunga Oval. Arrived in the last qtr of the u16s.

My son actually said Flash is down back perhaps Ron was right putting him down back.Just that Ron's timing was always out only putting him there as a last resort.

I think you should ask Cica about the grass the ball didn't bounce up for him in the last quarter.

A better style of football from the Eagles on Saturday. The crumbing and clearances from ball ups appeared to have improved significantly. Godden has done the right thing in giving youngsters S. Hill, A Rowntree and L. Staple big responsibilities. Youngster still to be promoted that stood out in the reserves were Jarrads Allmond and Polec. Very impressed with Stuart Hill in the way he attacked the ball and the player with the ball, will turn into a very important backman. This position is a little different to playing at CHF as he did in last seasons reserves grandfinal when he kicked 5 goals in the first half against Godden's reserve team. Hill will eventually turn into a very good utility being able to play forward and back. For the supporters who worry about the lack of pace from the back talls can take solace that if any of the regular tall backmen struggle I'm sure Godden will not hesitate to throw Grocke down back as he did on Saturday. Could see him quite easily matching up on Gill. Grocke's forward position could be filled by one of Salter or Schulz. Don't right off Miles value to the team, played CHB, ruck and then went up forward and played well in each position. Aaron Day has yet to show that he is capable of being a regular first 21. A good start to the trial season but there is a long way to go.

Rimmington will be key for us of half back and if match ups warrant , then Macca will surely get the call . I liked the work of James Stewart and Guilhaus has a little of Lindsay about him , which made me smile ....... Day is still raw , but with a couple of League seasons under his belt , will be a solid player .

Lewis actually got a lot better as the seconds game progressed he may well come into the midfield mix.
And Matz at half forward and Bushanan on the wing showed a glimpse of things to come .
