Not sure Shapes. If the players that are cricketers (southern districts and Willunga) are not in the finals hopefully we go close to full strength but we will still have players being trialled in different areas of the field etc, its still a trial so the result as much as its good to win the messenger cup its still a warm up for Round 1.

We do however go out to win every game we play.

Very good write ups Yetti. Will be interesting to see how close you go to getting it right.

Doing that is just a cop out.

1. Willunga - will need recruits to have a bit of pace though. Era coming to an end but one more i think.
2. Victor - lots of recruits and will have a bit too much height against the rest. Getting some relatively young past players back to the club will give them the depth they need. Some very smart work by someone over the past couple of years to reduce impact of points system.
3. Strath - Peglar a big loss. Redden a bigger gain, but more of a utility, wont give them the extra tall they need desperately.
4. Creeks - around the mark, but ins equalled by outs. Age of top players becoming an issue also.
5. Yank - finished strongly in 2008 and had a horror run last year with injuries. Maybe way off mark but feel things may turn the corner this year. Lack of depth may hurt.
6. Mt.Compass - Burdett and Webb big losses. Will win at home more often than not otherwise would list them lower.
7. Goolwa Pt.Elliot - seem to continually lose games they should win while surprising at other times. Have a good base to work with but need a couple of quality recruits.
8. Myponga - exciting coaching appointments. They could surprise but haven't heard anything to suggest a spectacular rise up ladder.
9. McLaren - Always give a solid contest but competition looks to be stronger throughout this year. Good line up of young locals.
10. Bays - Will be a happier unit this year with coaching appointments, but despite a solid core of young locals haven't added any key position players to their line up. (Apart from Mods and i wouldn't expect him to play too many games.)

Lots of expertise on the benches this year also. Dont think Great Southern ever would have had a more qualified and respected group of coaches in charge of their respective clubs in the past.
Helps to make for an exciting year ahead.

ill give it a crack

Victor- Seem to have recruited well, and i can expect them to really improve on last year
Willunga- Always the bench-mark team, classy and a great challenge, but i really hope they at least loose the top finishing spot this year :)
Creeks- should be around the mark again
Strath- would be hurting from the past 2 years of being the brides maids to willunga always around the mix
Compass- big loss with webb, but still played over half the season last year without him still a good chance for the 5
Mclaren- a good young base and will keep on improving, will die off towards the end of the season
Goolwa- hot and cold, if they can start the season off with a bang like last year we will see them higher
Bays- will really want to improve on lasts years efforts
Myponga- interesting to see what Sampson can do with his crop, a lot of young kids coming up
Yank- 3 or 4 new good players wont turn this team into champions IMO

Being in the posistion im in, i dont wish to give anyone ammo on predicting where other clubs will finish this year. For anyone to post that Willunga wont finish top after the minor round have to be kidding themselves dont they?? Dont worry i know im in a minority group that is happy for them to keep winning premierships if my club isn't.

Many would say not alot at times...
I'd be happy for Pongy just to close the gap on the top 4 or 5 this year, attitude of the boys has been excellent so far this pre season but we all agree theres plenty to be done.

No predictions on the ladder for 2010 from me but theres been alot of movement out of the league this year, although some quality ins for the predicted Top 4 sides if they are all cleared.

Any truth that Matt Thomas is still a bit ginger from hip surgery? Late starter for 2010? Hopefully after Rd 2 :ympray:

He Is playing in Adelaide somewhere.
With Footner out as well, and maybe one other, and a question mark on Feast.
Compensated by the addition of Basir who will play on Ball or half back and MCgregor who is an on baller/ small forward. Favourite son returning from Whyalla as well to add some pace across the midfield.

10 ins for Willunga, So far....as if they need them.
Douros and Sherry from Kangy U/17's...no points
Deboo coming home ...no points
Dustin Georgeson from Aldinga...3 pts but one would think play B Grade
James Georgeson from Aldinga...no idea of what he can do
MCcard from Marion ..another tall forward...3 pts
Miegel by 2 from Marion....one will play A's and 3 pts
Ratsy's son a good young junior from Noarlunga
Delaney from Canberra. Can play cricket but no idea of his football pedigree

Yank has probably scored the recruit of the season so far
Big Glen Dundovic who kicked over 70 goals in a premiership side after missing the first 6 games of the year. As good a kick as Hams by all reports.
