Considering it's a trial game I reckon the impact on the crowd would be minimal.

I personally don't mind the late start.

It's ok for those who live near Elizabeth, but how about those who don't have cars and have to rely on public transport?

Probably more thought for the players ME, 8pm start would be solely to allow the ressies to start later to avoid any hot weather

As well as being a Friday Night, it gives the reserves players and officials enough time to finish work and get to the ground in time to have a decent preperation...

Liek Dutchy said also, it is beneficial in regards to any hot weather...

Sure, I would have thought that there would have been a little more thought for the supporters of the clubs that have to travel.

players welfare in hot conditions is far more important than worrying about you travelling & ffs it takes 40 minutes from glenelg to get to elizabeth & from noarlunga to elizabeth which i have done takes 55 minutes admittedly using the expressway helps, just get over it M.E. but maybe just for you they'll start earlier & how would you feel if god forbid an eagles player (any player for that matter) had to be rushed to hospital for heat exhaustion or a similar complaint ?

i can not believe how you can be that petty or selfish

Unlike some people on here I don't drive a car and I have to rely on public transport like a couple other Eagles Supportors I know who also use trains and buses to games. The next time Glenelg have a night game at Elizabeth Bayman try using the bus or train. I can tell you it will take longer then 55 minutes. If the game was at Norwood, I wouldn't have said anything.

as a kid i have done the tram/train from glenelg to elizabeth & back & at worse it to 90 minutes...no big deal, if you fear for your safety travelling by yourself at night then that's another story & i understand that as i will not walk in the city by myself at night after being cornered by a group asking to 'borrow money' many years ago, i gave them about $3.00 i had in change & told them i'm sorry that's all i've got & they took it & went, had they checked my shirt pocket under my jumper they would've found about $600.00 & back then that was a hell of a lot of money, this was in the mid 1980's

Can understand that .I sat in the train station after a night game at Adelaide .Quietly reading a book all the while a gang of indigenous(no offence meant) ran wild .Not something I would like to do again.
Of course these days I drive. not due to the gang but transadelaide selling me the wrong ticket then wishing to fine me !!

There's a rumour going around that due to the forecast of rain, the AFL will not allow the Centrals v Eagles trial at Hamra Homes on Friday night (to protect the surface for the Adelaide v Melbourne NAB Challenge game on Saturday).

Is this true? If so, where will the trial now be played?
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Maybe they could play it at Adelaide Oval, just play around the stage from the AC/DC concert ?

Will be interesting to see what unfolds, maybe shift it to another oval on the Saturday but not sure what would be available metro and country wise with cricket ?

I was at Alberton with some mates and we were quite impressed with what we saw from the Magpies. Hard working, quick, reasonable skills, youthful enthusiasm... And a good crowd for a practice match.

Sturt seemed able to kick it up a little when it counted, so using the old analogy of "Learning from your losses", it being only a trial game, I'm not disappointed we lost.
