Almost a team's worth gone from the Bay. That is going to be a big test on their depth.

Oh wise TSG, your wisedom knows no bounds ... what must the club do in it's hour of desperate need, or is the situation totally hopeless? :ympray:

Sorry to be a pain but Chris James is not an in anymore, due other commitments such as work and his speed way driving Chris will no longer be training at Central, he will be continuing to play with Smithfield for this season at least.

Would be interested in a comparison of recruiting numbers from last year to this - given that the new recruiting restrictions come into place next year.

Other than South with about 9 interstate recruits, (thought they were going to develop the youth rather than recruit interstaters?), it seems the other clubs have recruited conservatively?

The Bays have depth. Didn't they win the Reserves and Under 18's Grand Finals.

I don't know the Bays team that well. Of the OUTS, how many were good regular reliable league players and how many were borderline players that won't really be missed.

Thats why I mentioned it. Although that success doesn't always flow through to the Senior side.

In all seriousness that's why I'm looking forward to the season ... a fantastic bunch of young players coming through the club. Yes, the recent success below league level at the Bay doesn't guarantee a thing, but the thought of some of these great juniors excelling at league level is exciting.

Starting 18- Fisher, Backwell, Hall, Hinge (pre injury), Block.

Around the Mark - McConnell, Holmes, Leibelt, Duldig, McGregor

Reserves - Day, Sugars, Vallance.

My main concern is that as a club we are now forced into a semi rebuild due to the player departures rather than age or ability. We went from a club that was primed for a premiership tilt... to a side looking to the youth.

and no matter what anyone says... in MY opinion its bl**dy disappointing.

And that is not an indictment on the junior players coming through as we do have a great deal of genuine talent knocking on the door. That talent was knocking last year also but was unable to get in as the side was pretty much locked away for the minor round. Sure now they get a go... but the quality of loss via retirement is significant.

I think we have been two quality players short the last two years.....Things i've said at the start of each of those seasons but this year is totally different, giving a whole lot of new players coming through our junior ranks and reserves a go, anything could happen, knowone really knows because of soo many changes it could be just what we need. Although i still did think we should've gone after atleast one more recruit and that was before mouse left. Time will tell.
