I think Rick's record speaks for its self. Coached the B grade to a premiership a couple of years ago, coming from fifth and going undefeated in the finals (beating seaton along the way). He then did what Tredrea and Delaney couldnt do before him in making the finals in Div 1. How could you not like that in a coach....unless you had personal reason not to like him like 1eyed.

No Mercy, i find it interesting that in one breathe you bag Districts and then in the other you talk up Rick. Surely you realise that by bagging Districts your also bagging Rick so why dont you just concentrate on your club for a change.

personally i think NM has a soft spot for the port boys and also shows his footy nouse in his comments about footy, clubs and the coaches.unfortunately for Ricky who i have the upmost respect for,the people who seem to bag him the most are from his own club and the people defending him are from the outside.look at all the comments posted individually and you will find that what has been said by NM are not only an observation but also pretty spot on.as they say keep your friends close but your eniemies closer.unfortunately ricky is surrounded by the later.just my opion but im sure people will say im wrong and have no idea
we stand as one
we fight as one
we win and lose as one
we are one

I'm a fan of Ricky but not of the club.
Is there a problem with that steve?
The results on the board with Ricky getting Districts into the A1 finals, something the 2 high profile coaches before him couldn't do.
All coaches have different philosophy's, structures, game plans etc.
If Ricky's got his boys to the finals in A1 like the others couldn't, hasn't that proven he's doing something right?
Then why have the players left?
Maybe not getting their own way. :(( :((

Cant back the youngsters in when they dont have any decent one's.
Madds got shafted as captain 2 years ago, hardly got any game time last year even when they have no tall defenders. Smitham was regulalry in Best players playing in the middle, got a BOG and wasnt seen again in the middle after about round 9. JOKE. Perry shouldve been captain as he was told, and all of a sudden he wasnt.

The club needs to get their act together or people will keep leaving, good people. Just like u poached Muscara NO MERCY, he never got a look in to play A's which is another joke, he might have had a few injuries but is a class player and great clubman.
I hope he does well for u, i might come and watch him play if u give him a game!

Didn't Port Districts U/18's win the flag and quite comfortably at that. Surely they have some quality footballers in the mix. They also had the medalist for the grade if I'm not mistaken.

From the outside you'd think there would be enough kids to give chances to.

As for Smitham and the likes so they should be up there in the best players for the B's but you wouldn't give him a spot in the A's. You can't rely on past performances to get you a gig in the A's, might be a good thing to get all the drift wood out and start fresh, with players that aren't bitter towards club and coach.

No doubt its going to be a tough year down there, but if they can get through it and stick with Rick, hopefully they come out the otherisde much better for it.

The boys who were interviewed by the YP club didn't want much!!!!!!

You would have thought they were all ex AFL players with what they put their hand out for.

With what some country clubs are offering very mediocre footballers, why not ask for as much as you can.

Has any other clubs out there that have recruited Pt Dist players for season 2010 finding the club hard to deal with in relation to clearances?
My mail is theres a few i know the club won't release because the club is stating they're 2009 subs are in arrears.
These blokes are all financially up to date with Port Districts & not in arrears to what i've been told but the club is trying to play "hard ball" with these blokes ( the Seaton two ) seeking greener pastures & the other ( 10-12 ) seeking $$wealthy$$ ones!!

i know of a local country club are waiting on 2 maybe 3 clearaences but nothing has happened yet.
goes to show everybody should keep their receipts or copies of contracts if the subs are part of the deal.
i know one club that rejected a clearance because he hadnt paid his "membership" (quoted from player)
now membership & playing fees are totally a different issue...........cant stop a player leaving if his previous year has been paid up but they woudnt let him go because he's not a member of the club, and that was to be a member the year he wasnt going to be there..................stupid.

come to think about it, dont most clubs have membership in with the playing fees.

We had this problem with them
they stated 2010 fees were not payed, but how can that be since he isnt playing there this year
our club rang and they said they would re submit it, that was over a week ago!
its a big change of tune now trying to reject clearances when the president gave our bloke well wishes when he told them he was leaving last year!

Districts have gone as bad as saying to one of the players we recruited from them, you played 2 games of cricket 2 years ago & didn't pay up. ( clearance denied )
I mean fair dinkum, i think the Amateur League should investigate the joint & tell them that what goes around comes around as this club had grins ear to ear in 2007 when they had 4-5 players released to them from Seaton without a hichup.
Short memories!!

Isn't declining a clearance for financial reasons restricted to 2009/previous season subs only?

We had a few blokes come over from Districts a couple of years back. All were financial but districts claimed they all had training gurnseys that they had to either give back or cough up $80. I think there were about 5 blokes that came across 1 played A Grade who returned his gurnsey the other was fringe A/B grade didn't have one and the other 3 were B/C graders who didn't have one. Needless to say we had to cough up $80 for each player to get clearance through.
