All senior players will receive zero points. Penalty points will be allocated to recruited players depending on the level of competition they are coming from. The allocation shall be determined in accordance with Section 4 of Appendix 4 of SACFL Regulation 32. (Refer to Schedule A)
blah blah blah......
1.1.2 In accordance with the criteria below, each player selected in a Senior Team who has had playing experience with another Club in Australia may be given a further points rating (in addition to any point or points given under 1.1.1 above) depending on the level of the competition or competitions in which he has previously played, the number of games played in that competition, the period of time since he previously played in that competition and/or any other criteria which may be approved by the Board.
with regard to players coming from a state league comp:
A player who has played a majority of matches for the Senior team for a Club or Clubs in any one of the above State Leagues in the previous season – four (4) additional points, less any deductions or concessions as set out below:
(those concessions relate to players "coming home" to the club they played at prior to playing at state league level.)
blah blah blah...
Deduct one (1) point for each season since the player last played for a senior team of a Club in a Category One League or a Category Two League.

I'm not so sure about that. I've been having a look at a copy of the Approved Player Points System (APPS) that is being rolled out around the state. Not sure that it's identical to that used in the GSFL but this is what it says:All senior players will receive zero points. Penalty points will be allocated to recruited players depending on the level of competition they are coming from. The allocation shall be determined in accordance with Section 4 of Appendix 4 of SACFL Regulation 32. (Refer to Schedule A)

It appears to me that the allocation of points is all about when the player last played in the previous league and has absolutely nothing to do with when a clearance is processed.
It will be very interesting to see how this plays out in the GSFL.

Will be interesting to see how this does play out, Iljcesen registered with Victor last year, did not play a game so reading the rules that GA has posted he is therefore not a Victor player last year and does not get 1 point subtracted from his points allocation.

That is a big part of it. GPE have gone out on a limb to try and embrace their Port Elliot Heritage this year with Club Patron and General Manager of Community Football Glen Rosser at the helm as he played for Port Elliot and his father was a life member.
It's dissappointing that a certain few people in Port Elliot don't want anything to do with the club. The Port Elliot name could be lost forever in the very near future.
There was already a heritage guernsey designed that looked amazing, many local Port Elliot businesses had jumped on board to sponsor the club and in particular the match in Port Elliot but unfortunately there are too many d*cks still around Elliot.
The match will revert back to Goolwa oval and it is still undecided whether the heritage guernsey will be worn.
Glen Rosser has learnt first hand about the lack of support from the Port Elliot community towards their club.

damian what you need to remember is the world doesnt revolve around footy. i know how much effort truck, cockles, tubby, gav smith and co put into the elliot oval during cricket season to get the oval to look like a bowling green. if they dont want it ploughed up by a one off footy game after all the hours of work they put into the oval over the summer then i think thats more than satisfactory.
i know how many hours of work it takes to get our turf wicket back up to scratch after footy. if we had the choice of no footy on the oval we would take it too. but we dont have the option.

1) Yes you have done well to get the oval looking as good as it does
2) You dont have a turf pitch so no damage can possible be done to "the wicket"
3) You have unlimited water to prepare the grounds and because of this the soil/grass is in a very healthy state and wont suffer any perminant damage from ONE day of football
4) Should Goolwa drop the Pt Elliot name it has taken on? Seems like they are in some way not welcome in the town, I am sure the local Pt Elliot sponsers would be very upset to hear this game will no longer be taking place. If I sponsered the Pt Elliot cricket club you wouldnt see my support behind them ever agin, cricket brings maybe 30 people to a game ONE day of footy would see 500+ attend!!!
