anyway at least a fair bit of cash to throw at a possible last minute recruit? not sure who would be out there are this stage but i'm sure the bays would be looking. maybe recruit a gun from another league, who's doing well in the NTFL at the moment? ;)

allow me to make an assumption but your assessment is based purely on skill alone?
because if that was the only criteria then yes I would be joking, hardy-ha-ha

 Interesting choice of words there, brent - in the context of what you wrote. He was a blood, originally in the SANFL, after all...

We wouldn't have lost the Prelim if Mulesy had been playing, period. We should've won regardless and we didn't so we'll bare the concequences. Fact remains if Mulesy was there we would've got another crack at Centrals.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

yeah that is true SnappyTom, and I appreciate you raising it

i guess after an extended period of time at one club that sometimes as a supporter you find yourself expecting something more, maybe more of a 'bond' to the club, or this extra level of loyalty that we so often talk about (as supporters)

but it is also important to have a balanced view of people. he is an exceptionally good player, and has proven it time and again, clearly has a lot of courage, and i don't question that he has given a huge amount to the bay in very difficult times. and now he wants to follow personal ambitions which I can definitely understand. i sincerely hope the warratahs go all the way.

My point (yes there is one) is that that sort of individual mindset is not going to take the bays from being an underachieving club to a premiership winning club. And yes I used mules as an example (although i don't know him personally) and for all I know mulesy might go and play for the maggies to save them from extinction but I am just trusting my instincts as a supporter ;)

There is absolutely no doubt that Ben Mules is an underrated footballer outside of the Glenelg Football Club, but at the Bay, he is rightly regarded as a fiercely dedicated, loyal, rugged and courageous leader.

Anyone who witnessed him being knocked out cold in the 2007 1st Semi Final against the Eagles, only to come back later onto the field would attest to that.

Certainly not by this supporter and most others I talk to. Ben Mules may not be flashy or particularly skilled but he makes up for it with tenacity and will to win. I would have him in my side before Backwell every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Well said MST.

Now, for those who are close to the club... when can we expect an official announcement? Sometime next week or as soon as mouse completes his online check-in?

remarkable that someone would post on here and also listen to 5aa. Remarkable they would want an answer from an assistant coach who claimed at five minutes to 6 Tuesday he had heard nothing of it... at 5 past 6 had just become aware... and last night claimed he had spoken at length to both parties that afternoon (wed) and claims it "was still up in the air" and both parties were still "working through it"... when in fact the termination happened Tuesday morning....

Rowe claimed he didnt want this touchy subject to be played out through the media yet both Ken A and the club had commented to newspapers for 8 days about it already(NT news, Messenger press).

I didn't say your email was remarkable, but the closeness to it of (what was obviously one of) your posts was remarkable

FWIW, I think it got Rowey pretty frazzled and he didn't handle it too well .. And if you still have a problem with it "ring your club" lol

Supporters of all teams have lost favourite players over the years and will again, the constant is that we love our clubs and are still there following their highs and lows year after year .. It's nothing new..

pretty clear cut to me, brett made his choice we all move on, leaves the club with a bit of cap space no doubt but who can you get this time of year?

To play SANFL this year at another club they will need cap space and $25k for a transfer fee - be interesting to see how this plays out from here
