Is Schimma doing some Kieren Perkins style foxing or are the WI boys just getting their excuses out there early this year? St Brendan's v WI in the semis will be a cracker regardless of the strength of the teams. Pre-season camp or an hour of Gaelic...mmm, I know where I would be.

Couldnt of been me in Auk mate. I was to busy getting David Clunes concussed at a questionable venue the night the "PS" reared his ugly ass. What about the freak storm that SL experienced just outside the spa. "That patch of Rain came from no where man!!!" Still no act was as offensive as my room mates constant need to don the leppard skin undies on a nightly basis. Horr,Horr....Except perhaps several members of the team appearing from under my bed, behind my curtains, out of my bathroom and from the adjoining room with tape recorders,video cameras and other props and ruining a my romantic evening with a girl i clearly loved. She still writes me. Aukland 20 years on may have been too soon in hindsight.

Nev, weren't you using pre-christmas results to compare on a few hours back? If we can't compare on current results what can we compare on? The dream teams in our heads of who we could get out?

NaF have had a very solid team all season apart from those two games due to music festivals and the annual Bruno Rocca Tattoo and Hair Straightner Covention.

I know the point you are trying to make Nev. I really wish you had something to play for this week because it would mean a bloody good game and these have been few and far between lately.

I didnt mention any results from the pre christmas comp, the comparison of results was made by another poster who compared our post christmas results to those of Na Fianna.
I have never said Na Fianna were a bad side, all I said was that I dont believe they deserve their spot if they lose to us this week, in all probability they'll probably win and we can forget any of this ever happened.

I think you'd have to read the actual rule and not a half sentence summary of the rule. I don't have a copy of it, but I'm pretty sure it refers to State League competitions and not a season or seasons. I think most people have understood this relatively new rule as applying to each competition. Competition rules would have been distributed to all clubs at the beginning of the season, or before each competition if any rules had changed. There really should be a copy of them on display in the club rooms.

Competition Rules are different to the Playing Rules, the Administration Rules of Gaelic Football, and Bye Laws. They relate to local rules in running the games.

I don't think it's double dipping. All a club has to do find an existing ref or supply a person to attend the course and referee some games.

It's interesting how everybody has a different interpretation or way of saying the same thing. Some people call them seasons; some people call them comps. I've always referred to the whole summer from October to March as the season (ie: 09/10) and the Pre-Christmas and Post-Christmas comps (ie: Men: Farnan Cup and Hannigan Cup; Women: Mna Cup and Tom Finn Cup).

There is usually only ever one Ref's course at the beginning of the summer season.

i agree with you and i wish the lads had the same thoughts. but when you are a required (paid) player at some of these clubs they dont have a choice. Western Ireland dont pay the players bills. so they have to do pre season camps and this stupid 20/20 footy.

Gav O Rielly, outstanding consistent year from half back. Best tackler at St Marys
Beserker Delvins, 2009 Nationals have helped him become the defender you dont want standing you.
There is not room for many players from each team as 20 does not divide well into 7 but other warriors who could consider themselves a chance would be Matty Hill, Milko, Javor in goals, K Fay and Dirty Dave Asto was in at the half way mark.

If Na Fianna beat us they deserve their spot, if they dont beat us then in my opinion they dont deserve their spot because at the end of the day they should have one point less than us. Hopefully we can get a few boys out and at least put up a fight in the dead rubber

Making comparisons based on previous results in ridiculous, and if you want to start naming players that were missing I could rattle off at least a dozen that were missing from our games but you play with what you have on the day.

In regard to the womens team, we tried but we just didnt have enough players in the end. I guess a little more assistance would have been nice but we have ourselves to blame and a heap of bills to pay

I thought the team that was going to show up was easily going to beat NaF? Now you're struggling for numbers?

How about Norm, he has been stunning in his outings. That kick to the IA guy will go down as one of the funniest things you'll ever see on the gaelic football field

If we are talking about funny on the field...The MBK strutting around with his shirt off after a game a week or two back. The girls team playing straight after certainly thought that was funny and just plain wrong.

I'm not surprised that the girls found it wrong... Read into that what you will.
It was a 15m walk from one bench to the other to drop off the IA top I borrowed. It's also not my fault that I can't get a tan.

Friday night the Goats had a solid win against the Irish lads. think the score was 10:15 to 0:3. Not the best news for the goats thou. with only 12 players showing up and 2 more injuries. looks like the goats will be playing with bare 13 or if lucky 14 players this week.

Onka's beat the Taints
Na Fianna beat FON, which means that Na Fi went past Saints on goal difference to finish third.

So atm, this weekends games have Onkas v Saints & WI v Na Fi.

The NaFi/FON game on the weekend was an interesting affair. FON started by having enough numbers & carried that momentum thru in the first few minutes. But NaFi whether they deserved it or not, came back & did enough to win. A heap of notable events from the game tho.
- UFC has taken over, the inside leg kick now a popular move when fist-a-cuffs are present. Luckily there was such a kind hearted ref on hand, who got the situation under control),
- Stama the hammers tackle....
- The FON player who gave it the big Lleyton Hewitt "come on" after knocking the ball out of bounds,
- Tommy 'the Dirtbag' Duurland providing a haircut that seemed to be formed using some kind of salad bowl,
- But in the end, i'm most envious of referee Zues who had the privledge of getting the chance to very elegantly say "wide" after Dan 'milko' Bryant's first shot on goal for the season. Watching it, you could almost see Zues thinking of the best way to say wide before Milko even kicked the ball.

Can anyone tell me what aspect of goal and sideline umpiring is so challenging???? The Great Micky Sheen was able to do it in a flawless manner with 2 plastic hips,3 games a day,whilst balancing a Jamesons at 80+ years of age all whilst telling young corner fwds to "get on your f@#$%^ corner".
If 2 people stand on opposite sides at angles relative to the play and the way the ball may be played its not real hard to get it right.
Hopefully all clubs will supply reps who are interested in the on field proceedings for the finals.

Team of the year has been selected for friday night. It should cause a few controversies. Without naming any individuals i can say that the team features 10 TOTY Virgins and several big name omitions. Im sure it will create a lot of debate and discussion on this forum after friday night.
