THIS IS AN INTERESTING POINT.....HOW MANY PLAYERS HAVE LEFT THEIR "HOME" CLUBS TO PURSUE SUCCESS IN THE FORM OF A PREMIERSHIP AND SUCCEDED? AT GOOLWA I CAN NOT THINK OF ONE SINGLE PLAYER (EG JUREK, MCKINLAY BOYS, ROSS CAMPBELL, THE GUYS THAT WENT TO CALLINGTON ETC ETC). PORTLOCK IS PROBABLY ONE EXAMPLE IN THE GSFL. If Portlock stayed at home he would be getting beaten by 20 goals most weeks...
Everyone forgets that Braidwood was loyal to Compass all those years when they were bottom, Compass recruited players but have never really got close to winning a flag. Now hes at a club where they have a chance whilst being looked after with a few $$$, i dont see the issue. His girlfriend had nothing to do with him coming to Jervois, he'd only just met her last year when he signed.

The story here is that Webby has moved away simply to save some money and his Girlfriend has gone with him, Chatting to him myself the main reason is that he is constantly lured to town most weekends and ends up not saving anything, Moving to a town (KANIVA) which is 3hrs from any NIGHTLIFE and having a team look after him financially will help him set himself up.

Lets hope this means the tiger are gonna be a force this year.

This is the same with Pegler he has a young family to support and is building a house, obviously not recieving financial support from strath despite being in the top 2-3 players at the club the last two seasons, has chosen to use football for a year or 2 to get ahead, if people cant agree then they obviously havent been in the same situation.
Blokes like Mitchy Portlock stick around because they get supported financially as with the rest of the willunga side i would highly doubt that the club would have had this constant success if they didnt look after people with a bit of coin. to have Clubs need to put a $ value their local players just as much as the imports they pay for and fork out a bit to keep the group together not just expect the better local players to play for free as they have in the past.

on webby, good luck to Johnny Ak Jarrad, not sure that any other coach could say they have recruited as well as this bloke has, especially since he is only a first year coach.

Victor the new front runners in the comp with all of these inclusions. Add these players to Victors side last year who started the season incredibly well until injuries took their toll and the Roos will be playing deep into september this coming season.
