Forgot to add too - I'll take a punt that the next membership number update from Port will have a 4 in front at the very minimum.

From what Im hearing the Power and the Maggies have done very well out of a deal with a prominent SA businessman who gives plenty back to sporting clubs in this state, great result for both clubs if it turns out to be on the money!!

It is ridiculous that there wasnt even any PAMFC merch for sale at the rally tonight. The rules on segregation of the clubs are quite ridiculous.

I really hope, now that the merge is long gone Port Magpies don't fall into the trap of letting the Power in on a 50-50 deal with the Prince Of Wales Hotel.
The Magpies were screwed in a deal with the PAFC years ago which left them now with 20-25% of nothing on game day at Alberton as it is. ( it use to be 15% )
For the Maggies to get back on their feet they need a white knight ( Gordon Pickard ) that'll help with clearing their debt & expanding the Prince Of Wales Hotel to accomadate for 500+, that way Port players & supporters can go back there for presentations after games knowing they'll recieve 100% of the turnover from their loyal fans. Gordon will be payed back like North payed Gerrard back interest free in 4 yrs & the Magpies will be debt free & strong again, something the other SANFL Clubs fear. The Power for too long have been screwing the magpies.
The Power were in a win-win situation whether the merge was successful or not, providing the Magpies fell over.
The Magpies surviving is a different kettle of fish to the Power, the Prince Of Wales remains the Magpies key asset & so too their loyal supporters, the Power on the other half want all the magpies supporters plus their Hotel.
I say stuff the Power, deep down i don't think they really give a sh!t about the Magpies.

Agreed!

They can't even hold a joint dinner. For example, say Wilbur had a testimonial. He was a legend for BOTH teams, but would not be able to have a dinner held in his honour jointly by the PAMFC and PAFC. Joke really.

=D> =D> =D> =D> =D> Excellent post no-mercy I agree with you on the power's love for the magpies. The power have used and abused the pies for so long all the power care about is the history of the magpies and how they can cash in on that.

No Mercy, I love it! That's exactly what I've thought right the way through this charade. PAMFC have to stand for themselves and fight for their rightful place in the SANFL all over again as have alot of other clubs like mine.
The fact is that Port supporters have been divided, confused, segregated, ostracized, disenfranchised and sold out. This is what I get from past players, punters and hear on radio. I still think the merger would've been the death of the PAMFC and the other 8 clubs have done you a favour.
You now live in you're own right with your own destiny.
DA, you made some comments before that I just cant understand, your comments of Leigh Whicker are just ridiculous and moronic.

According to the paper (and I take most of the stuff in the 'Tiser as being about 25% true - 1% if it is Rucci) Pickard will provide the funds to the Power to purchase the Hotel. This means the Power effectively purchase it from the Magpies which allows the Magpies funds to clear their debt with $$ left over to examine other options for an income stream moving forward which is really the issue for the Magpies long term survival. So this deal as suggested by the 'Tiser will mean that the Power will retain all profits etc moving forward with the POW as they will be the owners.

As NM pointed out - it is probably not a wise thing to get into a share deal again as the two clubs did with the Gaming at Alberton as the Magpies got screwed big time over that arrangement, the Pies would be better of on their own in terms of retaining all money from any business that they invest in.

As NM pointed out
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

The deal will bring us back to this same position in the next few years. The club needs to turn down the offer and go allor notheing on trying to survive.

I tend to agree. Short term it may solve some problems but selling the only asset you have surely isn't a long term solution.

Rather than just quote a small snippet of that post, why don't you go back and read it ALL and tell me that it's nonsense?

Why would the Power and the Magpies not be allowed to hold a joint testimonial for someone like Wilbur? It's a crazy situation.

Why? I reported back on the proceedings at Alberton? Port fans are very disgruntled with the SANFL and Leigh Whicker. I can fully understand why.

I didn't blame the SANFL for this current predicament like many others, I just made a statement that he's a dickhead. I stand by it.

But please explain why it's a ridiculous and moronic thing to say?
