Er.. no. It's been established time and time again that it was Port who wanted to maintain a Port presence in the SANFL.

BTW: who the hell is handing out these pubs? I want one.

Gordon Pickard apparently

Now this is just funny. Who was the knob on this forum having a go at North Adelaide concerning Rob Gerard and the purchase of their gaming venue? Isn't this just what has happened to Port?
Who are you, stand up and take your medicine.

There has been plenty of finger pointing by people on this forum and other forums in the past and the present re Gerards involvement with the NAFC and most of it has been factually incorrect as people still believe that Gerard gifted money to the NAFC to get back on it's feet which is just plain wrong but people like myself and Wedgie are getting sick of having to correct people so I am not even going to bother anymore after this post!

All people need to do is get hold of the NAFC Financial Reports from year 2001 through to present which are available from the SANFL and have a look at who loaned money to North (the bank not Gerard - he underwrote the borrowings as a guarantor) and how much we borrowed on 3 occasions increasing our total borrowings in 2005 to over $5M to set up the Roosters Club Gaming TWICE (Sefton Park and Greenacres) plus also the purchase of the Northern Tavern. Still people will believe what they want to especially with the media continually printing half truths and outright lies because they dopn't really care enough about the SANFL to do any proper research or speak to the clubs involved. If it isin't sensational enough they are not interested truth be known.

otr, that's correct, but none of it could have been done without Rob Gerard's guarantee.

This is not sensationalising, or critical, just stating an obvious financial fact.

It is not something to just gloss over. Good luck to the Roosters for doing it, but even allowing for everything else the club and its supporters did, it was Gerard's guarantee, and only his guarantee, that made it all possible.

I agree R&B and no one is denying that and we would never have got back on our feet moving the pokies from a back street location at Prospect to Sefton Park without Gerard's backing. Just when we got back to some stability we lost the court case about keeping the Sefton Park complex and hence the rally organised by Wedgie that got us some public focus and ultimately gave us 12 months to find aan alternative venue which was Greenacres and also purchase the Northern Tavern lease.

Had we been forced to close the doors immediately in 2003 and not get that additional breathing space then we would have lost our strong incmoe stream and would have been in the sh*t big time! In the end the Northern Taverns successful appeal at the time in early 2003 actually was a blessing in disguise as we were able then to buy the lease of the Tavern from those who appealed against our Sefton Park operation and knowing that there could never be another Gaming operation within that general Sefton Park area was a bonus to us as that business makes us big $$$ through gaming.

Sadly though all the SANFL is almost totally reliant on Gaming revenue for survival these days!

Well we will always have Football to argue about when it starts - which can't come quick enough with all this current off field argy bargy! And to think it is West vs. North first up too! :D
