Without malice, it would be good if the reasons for this could be shared with the punters. If there were holes in the model - please share them with us.
I realise Rod Payze has indicated how much each club lost last year, but that was last year... the merger was aimed at moving towards fixing that. And if the clubs hadn't lost money last year, would they have been looking to this year ?

The maggies lost $250K or so ... if the merger somehow saved $250K between the clubs then the SANFL clubs would have been no worse off. Ther merger doesn't need to address the entire $3 million.

With respect to the POW. Put simply, if there was a benefactor that was willing to pay out the debt and gift it to the magpies, it seems like they would be viable - or very close to it as the interest payments seemed to be the equivalent of their loss last year. I can't see it happening now, but this sort of actiuon would at least give the club an asset base to work from.

I'm also keen to see when the SANFL will unveil its new stadium deal, as this is a key component of the Power (and Crows) strategies going forward.

I think this is plan B

I can really only afford to get my seasons pass and membership for Sturt but I've looked at other ways I may be able to help my club and have put something into action. I see Voice, Barto and other Sturt punters on this forum doing the same and asked myself "what can I do?".
So I'm not telling you that there's an easy option, and I wouldn't presume to tell you what you should do. I'm just saying that there's no groundswell on behalf of the PAMFC punters, with that I'm saddened and surprised.

Tim Ginever,I believe,is well on the way to having a march/rally organised and I would think it would be very well attended.

Gotta love Tim and his passion, I hope he's involved in the ABC coverage again this year.
If there is a rally we can give it as much coverage on here as possible, I'd be keen to join in with my Rooster scarf like my mate Goatherder did with his Magpies scarf for our rally.
I won't be carrying my son on my shoulders for this one though!
Port have got to keep the attention on themselves to help get out of this mess.

Taken Russell Ebert's spot, big boots to fill and not sure he's good enough to do it.

A Port Adelaide supporter told my wife one day during a conversation,"we don't need anyone else to support the Magpies, we do it very well by ourselves".
Once my wife got up off the floor and overcame the retort, she vowed never to mention the PAMFC again.
I wonder if that theory of not requiring support still applies now?

The first part of that quote is fine.
It's the second bit that has become the problem.
I bet that if the PAMFC sold 15,000 memberships and season tickets to these fans, it'd be happy days again.

It won't be able to sell 15000 memberships for a start and, if it did, it would be a once off

I don't think membership numbers are the answer here. I understand PAMFC already do OK here. NAFC also do well and yet our total revenue from memberships is around $110K. Take from that the admin costs of mail-outs, information, etc and I guess maybe half of that revenue disappears.

I don't know if any modern club survives or dies on its membership revenue alone.

It's easy to say that the members aren't supporting the club and that's the cause of this. It's true that some old members have stopped supporting, but the club needs larger, long term revenue streams (ie, pokies).

I'd add that you can't have no members obviously and my comments don't preclude public shows of support for your club, etc.

I am only talking about membership $ revenue as a means of saving a club. I don't think it will.

Member passion, effort and activity, however, can help raise awareness and other forms of support and can save a club. Look at the RAM group that walked down Prospect Road.

Sturt also did it in 1995 when they had a rally at Unley Oval to get all the support for the club survived.
