To be fair to North, not one club voted for it. It's an insult that some people have suggested North swayed the rest of the clubs.

He also implied what is the SANFL going to do with another club close to the wall? Which club is he pointing the finger at - West Adelaide maybe as they had a huge loss last year but I understand they have significantly turned things around - R&B maybe can comment on that?

I don't think it would be inconsistent if the SANFL decided to help another club that was in dire straits if they had a convincing business plan with some financial modelling and a proposal that didn't offend the sensibilities of the other clubs. And if the PAMFC come up with such a plan I'm sure they will look on it as favourably as possible. The other inescapable factor at play is that with other clubs, there is the possibility of them disappearing altogether, whereas with this current example, there still remains a Port Adelaide footy club for fans to follow.

That smacks of sour grapes and poor understanding of their role as one of 9 clubs.

There were no sour grapes on our behalf just an absolute certainty that the merger proposal was always going to be proven to be flawed and unworkable which is exactly what it was and how the other 7 clubs saw it too. So if we (the NAFC) had no understanding of our role then does that mean the other 7 NO voting clubs including yours has no understanding of their role either - we undertook all the processes as did the other clubs?

In any case you are entitled to your opinion and I don't want this to get into a stupid "he said, I said" type thread. Play on as they say.
