The fundamental problem is that the Medicare rebate for GPs has risen by only about 70% of CPI over the last 30 odd years and the gap is widening, especially with Medico-legal defence insurance still rising by a lot more than CPI.
The AMA's position is that a summary of your condition should be sent to your new doctor free of charge , but they are entitled to recover the cost of copying the entire record if you request that, or if you want a full copy yourself.
However, $200-$300 sounds a bit steep unless you have a lot of old paper records that would have to be hand photocopied.
Some of the corporate practices, not run by doctors, had a pattern of luring people in by universal bulk billing then making it difficult to leave.
That's why many doctors don't think these corporate operations should be allowed to run a practice and just hire doctors to work for them.
[But Medicare and the government used to like them when they bulk billed everyone and made the BB statistics look good.]

Bloody cyclists that think they can ride side by side on the road!

Get in bloody single file, or one day a tradie like me towing a big trailor will accidently knock you off!

Middle aged men that are having a mid life crisis so they decide to buy a bike get some lykra and join a riding group!

THAT SHITS ME!

Getting harassed by a drunk person at the servo. Yes, I'd love to come home with you and your mate in your unroadworthy VK Commodore. I agree, we could smoke some bongs. :ymsick:

Not that I agree with it, but aren't cyclists allowed to ride 2 wide? Some of them are idiots though...

Being legal and being a good idea are two different concepts.

The sad thing is that some of the more militant members of the spandex brigade will have the final thought "but I'm in the RIGHT, gawddammit!" in the millisecond before an 18-wheeler penetrates their skull.

If 'Oi, my mate wants to know if you wanna come with us and smoke some bongs 'n' sh!t. I don't mean nothing, just trying to be friendly' (while shouting and brandishing a Woodstock in one hand) is asking nicely, there's a lot of room for improvement. ;)

The Sunday Mail getting a copy of the letter from Ms Chantelios after she stated it was for Mike Rann's eyes only. Three pages about it, now surely there's something much more important happening in the world to write about or is someone driving this matter as a form political motivation?
