The Prince of Wales Hotel.

Figures quoted in the Messenger report of the Magpies AGM, that this venue is bringing in $250,000 a year and costing $240,000 in repayments pretty much puts paid to that I think. The Power certainly don't need to take on any more debts, they've got enough of their own already.

Repayments on the same number of machines won't change, but the income from those machines certainly would if it became the Power's gaming location.

the issue with the POW is that it needs a huge investment to be successful. as someone who goes there once a week I can say it really needs it. I would much rather go to other pubs in the area but I would rather support my club then someone else.

So Port wont really die if the merger doesnt go ahead. They will just have to release its No 1 asset.

More contradictions from the pafc.

More selective editing from UK Fan?

The Magpies will sell their remaining asset (POW) to fund the 2010 season, (short term fix) upon which they will have no income stream to move forward. It really isn't that hard to understand!

So if you sell the POW you will survive. So this if the merger doesnt happen the claim "port will die immiediately" is complete bollocks. Youll just have to sell an asset you dont want to, and then youll survive and what happens after that is in the lap of the gods.

Im sorry that is a complete different set of circumstances than your fear mongering has forecasted.

So all those guilt trips you imbociles have tried with "do you want the Port Magpies out the SANFL" have just been made up all along. What a surprise never predicted that .

Best of luck now trying your guilt trips with "do you want Port to have to survive without the POW". do you honestly think anyone would care.

Dont want to have to say I knew you guys have been lying thru your teeth all along. But it was so freakin obvious.

Thankyou you both for proving it for me.

Selling the POW will ensure survival for 2010 NOT BEYOND FFS!

Now listening to Haysmen last night on AA they want the merger so they (being the power)can get the PUB.Along with a few magpies fans.
If the merger fails two things will or may happen.
1 magpies will fold after 2010
2 Power will buy the pub
Simple as that
So in 2011 Power will own the pub and the Magpies will fold .Only one Port Adelaide in Adelaide in 2011 .

End of the day the SANFL wants two things in footy in SA
1 Two strong and viable AFL clubs based in Adelaide!!
2 Every SANFL club to stand alone and make money .

Booney how can you ever try and label the SANFL clubs as the "executioners" to quote you on the Port Magpies.

When you have a clear Plan B for survival.

Wasnt just trying a lame guilt trip FFS.

Selling POW will save you for 12 months. And you can 100% guarantee death will occur in 2011 no other options of survival at all if the sale occurs ????????? No way in those 12 months circumstances will change.

Isnt this what happened with Norwood and Wood St ??????

Time for Port to sell its asset and toughen up. When the going gets tough, Port fans just cry and blame everyone else.

The trouble was Port didn't do its due diligence, and bought a liability not an asset.
Presumably they assumed the faithful would all abandon their usual watering hole for the POW out of club loyalty...
[There is not exactly a lot of that around now, and the Port area appears to be going upmarket.]

SOLUTION if Port Power wants the POW. Why dont they just buy it off the PAMFC.

Ohhh I think I see the problem.

Damn you SANFL for putting PAMFC into this situation.

With the Power moving to play their home games at Adelaide Oval or at City West Stadium depending on who wins the election, would they not be looking at a city pub for the fans to gather at prior and after thier games as opposed to the POW?

And if games were near the city Crown Casino may get all the after game business anyway...
Perhaps the Power are playing their own game, and don't really intend to play matches near the city unless paid well to do so by the state or the SANFL.
My info is that the Adelaide Oval agreement is so extremely non-binding on anyone to the point that it looks like the L.. A.. W.. tax cuts from another era.

I get the impression that one of the big factors from PAP's point of view is that they want the same heartland Port people that the PAM want. So I assume they would want their venues in Port Adelaide.

Whether that's right or wrong it sounds like unifying the Port people is an important part of this proposed merger. They don't want Port people feeling they have to choose between PAP and PAM when it comes to support in any form. ie, get all the revenues from Port people (SANFL and AFL) into the one bucket and then administer both teams out of that one bucket and get economies of scale from the 2 venues.

Trying to take all the emotion out of it, that's my rough as guts interpretation of things. It's similar to what PhilH posted earlier.

When you have a clear Plan B for survival.

What is this Plan B you speak of? If the POW is sold the only revenue stream the Magpies have is gone. Yo uunderstand what "gone" means? No longer exists, will no longer provide us with funds.

Wasnt just trying a lame guilt trip FFS.

Guilt trip?

It is highly unlikely that a "white knight" will come along and save us in the next 12 months. So yes. Deat hwill occur.

Isnt this what happened with Norwood and Wood St ??????

What an outrageous comment, but hardly surprising.

Not necessarily, when the POW was purchased it was just another pub amongst pubs. Since then, many of the local establishments have undertaken renovations using borrowed $$. Under the current revenue stream, Port Magpies are maxed out on credit, so can't afford to do it up. The Power on the other hand can, thus giving them a main road social/ gaming facility.
