Training danger

Postby SABRE » Thu Feb 04, 2010 3:17 pm

Are iPods a danger for footballers & other sportspeople while out jogging ?

Twice in the last week I've nearly 'cleaned up' South Adelaide boys who were plugged in to
their favourite music while running in the southern suburbs.
One on Beach Road, who couldn't hear my car and another close call when I was riding on the
bikeway. Has anyone else had a close encounter with players or other joggers not hearing you or
too engrossed in their music to notice traffic ?

It worries me that some young player is going to be hurt (or worse) because of iPods.
Now might be the time for ALL club coaches to remind their players to be more vigilant out there
if they are 'plugged in' and can't hear what's around them.

In the interests of player safety, please pass the word on at your club.
Cheers n beers,

Yes, training is a danger. I did 5k's on the treadmill and 3k's rowing tonight and I'm buggered. It's dangerous alright.

this is why i used the word SAFETY.....also women putting on makeup & men shaving on their way to work should be banned....back to the runners if the ipods etc are way too loud (& lets face it most would have it that way) that must be dangerous not to be able to hear the traffic & any warnings that come with it.....i know a lovely young lady who goes running in the mornings & i'll give her a toot, when i catch up with her i get ''nah didn't hear or see you as i had my ipod on'' dangerous imho because of the awareness factor

Anybody out on the roads or crossing them in any form should have all there senses available for screening the environment for danger.

What a silly duffer!! Do let her know what a danger she is to society! or is it that she just gets so many admiring toots that
she cant aknowledge them all! :) he he.....
You're not getting my point.... :) Its illegal for safety reasons when DRIVING to use a phone!! Not when jogging... its not illegal for a jogger to use an ipod.... (but he he he.. it sure is unsafe!!) It would also be illegal to use an ipod I'd say in a car... and certainly fiddling with one would be illegal... but its not the drivers we are concerned with!! Its those road hazard ipod wearing joggers!! Damn them!

Using some peoples logic, maybe we should ban the deaf from jogging as well. FFS.
