Port Districts Football Club- 2010

Postby NO-MERCY » Tue Jan 26, 2010 11:04 pm

Struggle big time is my prediction, as many as 10 A1 players have left & more to come.
I don't know if its something in the water down there at Largs or all players have some troubles financially.
Whatever it is the Magpies look like having the wooden spoon engraved for 2010.

I wonder if Districts are aware of Ryan Kelly $ shopping $ himself around the Leagues both City & Country.
Was only a week ago he was trying to raid Seaton again of players for Pt Districts & got a big NO thanks.
Things have changed very quickly havn't they?

Apparently the rumour is that Brad Tossold has settled on playing at Willaston this year after offering his services to a couple different clubs which politely turned him down.

with all the players leaving the port,i hope the club gets behind ricky and give their kids ago.for too many years tthey, like other clubs have bought coaches and players to maintain the status quo, with the only real results being the waisting of money and letting the kids down who have basically moved onto clubs willing to give them ago.the sooner these clubs forget about the mercanieries and look in their own back yard the better the club will be.

If it is as bad as we all our hearing, our club went through it 2 years ago, lots of players left for money or retired etc, we dealt with it by playing the kids and giving some blokes a game that might not be up to it, but would give 100%. Now obviously we were relegated, so it wasn't easy, but here we are 2 years later back in Div 1, sure we have picked up some great players since, but all players that stuck through that hard year, are still on the books. It built some club spirit, even though it was a terrible time to be around the club. Just my point of view.

Theres no other alternative than for Pearce to put his time & effort into developing youngsters.
I only hope that the club sticks with him knowing the hard work thats infront of him will be a testing time for him & the club, its not Ricky's fault the Mr Greedy's of the club walked out to fill their pockets up at other clubs.
To get to the finals last year was a good effort considering where they were halfway through the year, no-doubt if Steed didn't return they wouldn't of done so but the coach has to get some credit surely? All i'm hearing is these blokes wern't in support of Ricky, why?
The clubs football department surely don't expect them to make finals this year knowing the drain of experienced players. The same football department needs to support the coach through this transition period.
I'm not sure whether they will to be honest.

Handy at his best but that's behind him now. Inconsistent and has moved around a fair bit, I reckon this will be club #6 in about 7-8 years. Port Adel to Gepps X, Paskeville, RSMU, Port Dist & now X if my memory is still working.

Pretty sure he is only 26/27 years old so if he is past his best at that age then what hope do all the other players in the amatuer league over the ago of 27 have

Not sure that was the question
He's carrying nearly as much pud as I am and has played his best footy. Worth a spot but nowhere near as quick nowadays and I reckon he's closer to 30 than 26.
I stand corrected on the age bit

Smitham and Maddern are both over 30 and have served the club well, werent getting regular game time last year and played out of position and both maybe not upto Div 1 standard anymore. I think they had the right to leave. Perry getting married at end of year overseas and wanted some cash, Smart over 30 so i think they all have the right to leave and if a club is prepared to pay them so be it.

I think they will really struggle and if they treated there loyal players right they might not be in the crap they are now.
If they have a bad year Rick will be gone.
