Having had a few chats and an even few more beers over the years with Les, he has always said he couldn't wish for a better place to work than Adelaide Oval but is a person that would sure speak his mind if he wasn't happy about something and wouldn't put up with any crap with incompetent managemeant. Has been there a long time and dont think he was intending to stay forever but just deserves to leave on good terms when hes ready.

after chatting to saca people today - rumour is more than true. Les is ready to walk if the management (new CEO)
dont lift game. yr right though as he always speaks his mind, always will and always has in the 40 years i have spoken
with him. great curator and will be sadly missed when he retires at seasons end. box head to take over is the word.

whether it is ''box head'' or anyone else it'll be big shoes to fill & the replacement will be compared rightly or wrongly to les burdett at least for the first few years.......will the 'alledgedly' incompetence put a stop on the governments hand out to get afl footy & more concerts etc etc to adelaide oval ?

If the rumours are true, would be good if he gave the new CEO more than 3 weeks in the job before passing judgement...

I would have thought Les had been there long enough to know how to play the SACA Boy's Club games.

Not quite - they handed some out about 8 or 9 months ago, it was a short term offer that is now closed.

I think the problem may be that the new CEO actually pays attention to all areas of the business and Les isn't used to it.

why should les have to pay attention to an over priced guy who sits in an office and knows
stuff all about what les is doing out on the oval, in the nets, helping clubs and the endless
other crap he has to do each week. the man is a legend and the best in the world at what
he does, so let him do it without interference from the bloody suit and tie snobs that run the
boys club.

think you will find this is more than a vrp, but he want to go. take out the v in the rp and you have it right I think.
unless things improve he just wants out, simple as that.

boxy cant be held responsible for any of this. les has just had a gutsful of whats going on with the suit and tie guys
and nothing to do with any government decisions.
