Has there ever been a more wasteful talent in world cricket?

Im confused
His record in ODI as a lower order batsman is about as good as Ive seen
He is one of the very best cricketers to play ODIS
Off course hes gunna look bad when he gets out playing a big shot
That happens to a lot of big hitters

Of course he's had some remarkable success, but for someone highly experienced, his shot selections are really poor at times.
Today was a example where as captain his side were doing poorly, but went for some kind of crazy pull shot from a ball well outside off stump and bunted it to mid off.

Shahid Afridi
In my opinion one of the all time greats in ODIs
His record for Pakistan is
288 matches
BATTING
270 innings
590 runs
23-49 ave
4x 100
30 x 50
111-15 strike rate
BOWLING
273 wickets
34-65 ave
4-61 economy

A batsman who attacks instincively and excessively with a phenominal strike rate
A bowler who bowls with great economy, and does a great job as the allrounder

WILL occasionally look like a goose with his shot selection
WILL often murder bowlers with his shot selection

Ive watched a lot of players who love attacking
When they fire, cricket followers are likely to drool at thier achievements
When they get out , others will criticise

I suggest we all look at the overall picture
Afridi is playing his shots even if his impetuosity can let him down at times

Or perhaps he can become more responsible and get his strike rate down from 111 to 80
Improve his batting average from 23 to 25
There would be a lot of bowlers who wish he would ...

Any eyebrows raised about the man of the series?
Sure, Harris did well, but two of those games were dead rubbers.
White surely had the greater impact when the series was on the line - 100 in the first game chasing a stiff total, good contribution in the second game when it potentially could have gone either way at 4/160-odd.

Absolutely disgraceful peformance by the guy pictured above to do that to a player is very poor and makes Australian fans and WA fans look very poor, when we all know that a majority of them are well behaved. Hope he gets a significant fine and life ban from all sporting events in Australia.

Bring back public stonings, Pakistan can't host any games atm because of public safety, they come here and have to put up with this stupidity.

I wasn't trying to incite a call for public stonings or comparisons of this to terrorism but it is very sad to see this kind of thing happen to a player from any country whilst playing. Thankfully for Latif the guys was not trying to really harm him because he had the chance to if he wanted to cause harm.

I was, imagine how the Australian public felt if we got banned from hosting games, players should be able to take the field without having to look over their shoulder. It looks bad when they play in the sub-continent with their 8 foot high fences, is that what we should be looking at installing, it would be very sad if this happened.

I agree the minority have the potential to destroy the things we take for granted at the cricket like not having 8 foot high fences to see through. Players should feel safe on the playing arena.

My point is yes, with number of times he comes in with Pakistan 5 down for less than 150 (or even 100), with plenty of overs to go, he should take more responsibility, especially if playing as captain.
Sure it's instinctive for him to go the tonk, but he only needs to adjust slightly.

His bowling is much more consistent and generally very good.

Pakistan have their well-earned reputation as cheats confirmed last night (just as the Indians are whinging sooks, & Sri Lankans have an enormous chip on their shoulder), but the incident with the moron invading the field is disgraceful.

Would it be racist if KFC made their next ad with Afridi eating the ball, then an Aussie fan comes up with a bucket of KFC & says "try eating this instead"?

What I found quite disappointing was on Inside Cricket tonight the panel started the show with the ball tampering incident and devoted the first ten minutes of the show to it and then spent around a minute on the pitch invasion.

One was cricket related and the other wasn't. Why give the idiot any limelight on national TV anyway, probably just what he wanted, a $500 fine, wow, he probably done it for $2K at least.
