Is Aaron Bateson the bloke who use to play at EPFC is about 25-27 years old, bowler just above medium pace, moves the ball abit and is fairly handy lower order with the bat, if so this bloke had huge potential and played very consistent div2-4 cricket for a few years, but was another victim at EPFC around the time of not getting a chance due to not being a name player, or going through the correct junior channels.

Yeah that was Lyndon's first game back from a broken jaw very handy bowler when in the right mind frame.

Yes, Aaron Bateson has lost heaps of weight and would be in the 5 fastest bowlers going around in div. 2 on his day atm. He bats way too low, but given our line-up thats where he is. He has opened in our A's before.

Well you got a very handy cricketer there, the bloke generally bowls an incredibly good line and length, with slight variations of movement and bounce. Funnily enough could only just make the EPFC b Grade back in the day despite good form, was in a very similar boat to Lyndon and that was why he left the club as well. Geez there is a very long list of blokes who couldn't make the EPFC a grade but are now doing really good things at the same or higher level for other clubs now.
Mate, all that stuff happened in the past. It has hurt the club, as the depth is not the same as it once was. Things happen, now it is 5-6 years on from there so it should be left there. I am not sure things would be different if those involved had their time again. Good on those who moved on for making a name for themselves elsewhere. Bateson, Lyndon, Robbie Latrobe etc etc have done very well, and will continue to do so (maybe not Robbie, 1 more year for the big fella???) Even you have moved on, maybe work has got in the way of you making an impact but you definitely could have, if given the chance. But maybe it's time to let that stuff go, are you still that bitter with EPFC?

I don't think that Virginia's place on the ladder is a true reflection of their talent, more so their depth. They still have Leo, Natsias and Warren which makes a very good bowling line up, but the batting does get thin very quickly. The are very dangerous on their day.

Salisbury North on the other hand have Deneglese, Johnston and Bomber, however their troubles this year have been the bat. Bomber is due for a big one (not this weekend hopefully) but they have been struggling to break the 150-160 mark.

So to answer your question, I think they both would account for Craigmore, but Smithfield will hold their own. Smithfield to beat Salisbury North, narrowly lose to Virginia.

Think you might find last year S North lost to Craigmore both times last year prior to the semi and we in a very strong position part way through the first day until a major collapse. Would expect Craigmore to beat the if they can get back their early season form. Virginia and Craigmore always have got matches, think it would be very close...

No worries, couldn't remember the exact outcomes from matches last year. I think Craigmore is much too reliant on Howe and Elliot though. Generally you get them relatively cheap and it all falls away. To back my point up, look at their last couple games. Definitely lacking 1 more quality bat, as well as a good strike bowler. Papas is a medium swinger, McKenzie is much the same. What is lacking is someone sharp. I would imagine that the Carmen (who used to play for you guys) going to Angle Vale would be disappointing, he would've topped Craigmore off nicely. Anyways, good luck to Craigmore for the rest of the year.

I still won't forgive your captain from last year for not walking after he "nicked" it and our keeper had to dive in front of 1st slip to take it. He went on to make 100 if memory serves me well. Oh well.....
Thats what we pay umpires for isnt it, take the good with the bad, by the way he only made 70 odd but Craigmore did win and he edged it more than once......hehehehehehe

Yes he did make 70 odd, you are right. Won the game with some good shots by the way.

I actually do walk champ, one time was iffy because It hit my arm but it may have hit my gloves, I couldn't have been sure. But that is neither here nor there, Galway pretty much nicked it to first slip and he knew it!!!

However I do agree that there umpires are there for a reason, some walk some stay around and you do get the good with the bad. But to nick it that far way a bit over the top. Either way that was last year, things have moved on from then.

Unknown, you are right, I don't nick them, I get massive edges past 2nd and 3rd slip. My best run scoring shot lol.

I dont walk, plenty of times copped bad calls and a couple times got ones that go my way inc one when in the 90s and no way am i gonna walk! Umpires are paid for a reason. I couldnt imagine walking on 0 as i couldnt imagine you being impressed being given on 0 when your not out!

Sorry i worded that wrong. I didn't walk, as I was unsure whether I hit it. Some were sure I did, but that was their opinion. I agree, If unsure, don't go anywhere.

Yeah I know, just highlighting the fact that finals are played over 2 days of a weekend. I guess representing association teams isn't as important to the individual as a club finals etc where I'm sure Groover would never walk out on the 2nd day of a final or granny.
