Man vs Wild - SBS

Postby Cambridge Clarrie » Mon Oct 05, 2009 10:23 pm

Has anyone been watching this? I found it while I was channel surfing and became glued to it. From what I could gather, the guy is a bit of a cross between The Bush Tucker Man, Malcolm Douglas and an Andy McNab (SAS vetran). Essentially the guy shows you how if you're say a tourist and you get lost in the wild, you'd be able to survive until you were found. Good show and is on directly after Top Gear.

It was alright for mindless TV but supposedly it's pretty rigged so I'd take most of the show with a grain of salt. I just focused on the nice pitcturesque landscapes.

Its very addictive, have been watching it on FOX for a while, Surviorman is exactly the same except there is no camera crew, he does all the camera work!

That sounds pretty cool. I must admit, I thought the cameraman in Man vs Wild certainly earned his money...

He struggled with those! I'm surprised his wife actually lets him go off to film the episodes... Maybe he hasn't told her yet what he does for a living...

I think I have seen just about every episode of Man vs Wild and enjoyed it. I have taken to watching Survivorman since I saw it in Canada on holidays last year. It is quite entertaining too. They are better than any of the crap we are being subjected to by the free to air commercial networks at this time of the year. ........unless you like tennis.

I haven't watched this show but it pissed me off that it replaced South Park. All I know is that the guy drank his own piss.

While I think we all know that many of the scenes are fabricated, I doubt he's choppered out at the end of the days filming. Equally, I doubt that he spends every night sleeping on rocks.

The program is about showing you what you could do if you had to survive in the different environments. Essentially, it's entertainment, not a documentary.

If I was stuck out in the middle of nowhere I'd be very happy to have him alongside me. If he wasn't available, Les Hiddins would be equally as useful!

BUMP!

Did anyone watch last night's episode where he skinned the sheep and used it as a sleeping bag and a floaty!

And that knot was pure genius when he came down the cliff.
Then he ate a raw sheep heart!!

I just cannot work out how the cameraman does his work.
When he goes through swamps and rivers etc how does the camera keep up??
