What was his footballing background in Australia ? does anyone know.
I'm pretty sure he never represented the socceroos.

There was a bloke who played for spurs in the 80/90;s and played for England but was always called an Aussie as well, can't remember his name.

Despite his South African place of birth, Johnston was born to Australian parents and grew up there with a father who himself had tried to make a living from the game in England but failed.

Johnston overcame serious illness as a child (doctors had suggested an amputation of his leg and it was all signed off until a surgeon intervened and saved his leg) and as he grew up found he could play football to a good standard learning his trade at Lake Macquarie and Sydney City. At the age of 15 he wrote off to a long list of English clubs asking for a trial......

Tony Dorigo played at Leeds United too I think.

No doubt Fergie will blast Premier League anf FA officials over his clubs hectic schedule this weekend. They have a premier league clash against Hull on the same weekend as the 4th round of the FA Cup.

Oh, hang on...

I am surprised United have a game actually.. I thought there were no top flight games on FA Cup weekend.

Pidge I might be asking you who Leeds have in the next round after this weekend. ;)

Not the way Spurs are going you wont!

The EPL will generally re-schedule games if top flight teams are no longer involved. Especially given this is a world cup year - there is a rush to have the season finished on time apparently.

DA, in the last two league games we've taken a point against second bottom Wycombe and lost to Exeter.

I'd like to say we'll get up 2-1, but i reckon Tottenham have this one 2-0.

Has Beckford's head been turned maybe? Heart not in it any more?

Spurs have failed to score in 7 of our 22 EPL games this year. Despite our good goal difference, scoring is a problem for us. If Leeds come and park the bus, playing all midfielders centrally and remaining tight at the back, you're a good chance IMO.

Without Aaron Lennon's width and Benny Assou Ekotto on the left (although Bale has been good), we're really predictable and very uninspiring.

It seems all the talk about him moving has been unsettling for the team, but then again every team goes through a bad patch during the season. Hopefully he can play a blinder this week and get us a win.

We've got a pretty solid defence, so hopefully Kisnorbo continues to dominate and we keep a clean sheet.

Hopefully Snodgrass gets a start too this game. He dominated Liverpool, hit the bar against Man United, so who knows whats next.

True bully, season wont finish early, but this year with the snowed out round, FA Cup, UCL, etc, the FA and EPL will reschedule where necessary to ensure that the final day deadline is met.

Thanks for the update fish. I just got home from the 20/20 big bash and am dissapointed that SA got smashed. I would have liked to see Burnley get up but sh#t happens. I have bought Setanta for this month and am hanging out for Spurs V Leeds. I love Leeds but have been in poor form since beating Man U. Hopefully we can get away with at least a draw againt Tottenham. 2 hours to go. Go U Whites!

No worries fuzz. Most of the remaining games have just started - no scores yet except for:
Wolves 0 - Crystal Palace 1 (Lee 3)
Spurs v Leeds still 2 hours to kick off.
