MP, who were the problems on the set of Gilligans Island? Presumably Tina Louise?

..and Mork and Mindy? Two main stars didn't get along?

..was the problem with Diff'rent Strokes caused by the age gap between Conrad Bain and his young co-stars? I've read that he was not a nice bloke.

tina louise is correct, when her agent got her to sign she was told she was the star (by the agent) & obviously she wasn't smart enough to realise that seeing the show was called gilligans island that the character played by bob denver was the star

didn't realise pam & robin 'had issues'

didn't see the conrad bain one coming when interviewed (i know he's an actor) he seemed to be a nice down to earth man
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I heard Shelley Long fueded with just about everyone on the set of Cheers, hence her leaving after the first few series.

Joan Crawford v Bette Davis
"The best time I ever had with Joan in a film was when I pushed her down the stairs in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" - Bette Davis.

"Miss Davis was always partial to covering up her face in motion pictures. She called it 'Art.' Others might call it camouflage- a cover-up for the absence of any real beauty. " - Joan Crawford.

Robert Reed v Sherwood Schwartz
Mr. Brady thought the show was beneath him. He was notorious for sending the producers long, detailed, highly-critical memos about how to improve it. They obviously binned them.

Shannon Doherty v Everyone

Few know how to sabotage a career like she does. Starred in two big network hits. Sacked from both. Pretty much p!$$ed off everyone she's ever worked with. Everybody hates Shannon.

Several telemovies dig the off-camera dirt on popular TV shows, including...

Diff'rent Strokes
The Partridge Family
Gilligan's Island
Three's Company
Mork & Mindy
Dynasty
Charlie's Angels

I've seen full copies of some of those Reed memoes in Barry Williams' (Greg Brady) book about life as a Brady. Some of the funniest, most well written pieces of vitriol around :)

Hadn't heard about problems on Mork and Mindy before - what happened there? I know the producers started allowing Robin Williams full licence to deviate from scripts and do his thing after a while, so wonder if that threw things out there?

Have seen the Diff'rent Strokes one. Very interesting stuff. Hindsight is a great thing to show how the kids all developed issues. Conrad Bain, though, has said many times how much he loved all the kids and how deeply it hurt him, that they all went so badly off the rails.

Robin Williams would be a nightmare for any actor to work with.

Just wouldn't know what you're getting from take-to-take.

Also, he was a coke fiend all through Mork & Mindy.

Took the death of his good mate John Belushi to get clean.

Was notorious for stealing other stand-up comics material...

Spot on.
Long wanted the 'Frasier' character written out after only a few episodes.
Good call.
Just like her movie career.

Anyone mention David Caruso on NYPD Blues?
The same predicament as Long and also wanted to go into films.

I think everyone did lol. Its interesting there's quite often stories about celebrities who don't get along, i'm not sure how many are actually true though. When MMM's current breakfast trio had some success it was rumoured they didn't get along, although i'm not sure if that was when they were at their previous radio station.

Ian Chappell and Ian Botham is another one, if they qualify as "entertainers" :)

The earliest cinematic squabble I heard about was between W. C. Fields and Mae West.
Apparently they utterly loathed each other.
Hardly surprising, they could both suck the life out of a spotlight so hard it became a black hole !

Not exactly entertainment but I love the story about how much Nancy Astor and Winston Churchill hated each other...an alledged quote...

Nancy to Winston..."If you were my husband I would put poison in your coffee"

Winston to Nancy..."Madam if I were your husband I would drink it"
