They were totally outclassed in this match Pakistan.

How different it may have been if the boy could catch  .

MOS between hauritz and watson   who would have thought that a year ago.

Hauritz to get it i think.

Great work by the Aussies. Pakistan look to be a side with talent but a side that is well short of Test Match Cricket. Because they don't get to play at home this seriously disadvantages them. Also, does anyone know the reason why Younis Khan was not in this team? Is he injured? Mohammed Yousef is a shocker of a captain..putting men on the fence does nothing except give away free runs and he did it more than once during the season.

Never has the adage 'catches win matches' been more pertinent than in this series, and in particular this match.

Lets be honest they wernt much chop! bar the young kid with an average of 50 all others where in mid 30's and agree the lack of test cricket is an issue also.

I believe we now go to NZ for 3 tests then to England to play Pakis in 3

Well done lads.

We have the one dayers first I believe then head to NZ for 3 tests. Then yes we are playing Pakistan in a neutral venue.

Didn't see any of it on the telly, but now they have a bigger roster of commentators they seem to be giving a few of the older blokes a bit of time off. Don't think Richie was in Perth or Chappelli in Melbourne. Actually, they may have been doing this for a couple of years come to think of it.

One big difference is the culture of the teams
I will use Peter Sizzle as an example
If he was a PA player he might have been dropped from the team a few Tests ago
But the AU way is to perservere with guys
This game the unluckiest bowler of the summer got back to his best

That 38 he made in Melbourne might have been the catalyst for him

This test
2/39[20]
3/25[15.2]

5/64 ]35.2]

His career
60 wickets
31-53 ave

The beauty Of Pete is he gives 101 % almost all the time
He epitimises the Australian way

At the start of the series one of the Paki players was interviewed by the press [Butt ?]
He said that Hauritz bowls ok, but Ajmal was a better bowler because he has a doosra
Hauritz 18 wickets
AjMAL got about 1 wicket for the series?

It's a great point here Mal

sometimes we (including me) get frustrated with why they are persisting with players X and Y yet most times those they persist with pay off. Other countries change their players as often as they change their shoes.

Not even a month ago.

What odds that he would have been the leading wicket taker in the series? (took 5 more than Asif)

Perhaps one thing he can learn is not to slag off team mates like he did. No matter how annoyed you are what Yousef said about Salman Butt was out of line IMHO.

For someone who labels a teammate "Selfish". Yousef is very keen to use the referrals on himself even when they are plumb, and young Akmal too.

I think you are arguing for the sake of arguing JJ - my responses in caps above

In my mind it's guys like Bollinger, Siddle, Hilf, Watto, Katich, Hussey, Clarke, Haddin in recent times that I thought of when I read Mal's post. Guys that have had some challenges but been persisted with. You've come up with a list of back-ups and guys given an opportunity but shown not to be quite there. To me, that list confirms what Mal was saying. Are you saying Dan Cullen should have been persisted with at test level?

We persist with the guys that should be persisted with most times.
