I heard yesterday that Clarke is still average about 42 for the summer before his ton?

He hasn't had his best summer thus far but to still average 42 shows how good the guy is, great to see him smash a ton yesterday.

LUNCH
AU 3/393
SIR RICHARD PONTING 180* [319]
CLARKE 153* [310]

Great to see the skipper and the deputy rise to the occasion in this match
After the 2-0 win over WI
and the 2-0 lead of a 3 test series v PA
Its great to see them perform when we really needed them this summer ;)

This is CLARKES highest test score
The partnership is reaching leviathan proportions of 322
Wonder what the record is for the best 4th wicket partnership is

CLARKE appeared fortunate to survive a confident caught behind appeal early today
PONTING is showing why he is one of the all time greats
35 years old, looking worse than a leaky boat yesterday, off a batting slump this summer, he has then creamed the Pakis today
The jury is still out on his propopensity to hook well early in his innings though

Is Ponting or Doc Baldock the greatest sportsman to hail from Tasmania ?

I wonder how Marcus North would be feeling at the moment. With all the speculation prior to this match in regards to his position in the side I wonder if this partnership is helping or hindering him. He would have probably already worked out that he won't need to have a bat in the second innings by now.

He could get out cheaply next and it would have no impact on the game or he could score a quick 50 and still not be recognised much for it. I think he is in a loses/lose situation.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

If we win I think they will stick with the winning formula - 5 of 6 tests this summer so North would probably be safe even if he failed

Ponting gives the impression he wants the winning team to stay together so he prob gets his way - while we are winning

The problem can come if he gets too stuck on sticking with his boys through thick or thin and we have seen 1 or 2 examples over recent years
In between signatures .....
