That presumes the article is correct and complete, which it clearly isn't.

So if Port Power will upgrade the Prince of Wales for Port Magpies can the Crows refurbish the Castle Tavern for Sturt or help Norwood build clubrooms at the oval?
If Port's problems is off field revenue as i've said before, why aren't they expected to guts it out like other clubs have had to do??

How is it all off-field if the SANFL side wears the Power jumper, is called Power and contains Power-drafted players from interstate?

You didn't read the article, did you?

Yes I did thanks, but the article fails to mention that when Port made its submission to the Commission they said the SANFL side would wear the Power jumper, be called the Power and contain the interstate Power-drafted players. I wonder why those things weren't mentioned? So the proposed 'merger' is far from all 'off-field'.

Perhaps the article failed to mention those 'facts' as the submission has been altered?

* create extra revenue streams for both clubs by revamping the Magpies-owned Prince of Wales Hotel at Queenstown and a gaming venue at the Port Club at Alberton;

Where does it say that the PAFC ( Power ) are funding this?

Kind of defeats the purpose of maintaining Port in the SANFL. Wasn't it to have that Magpie heritage continue on?

If they become the power and wear teal, may as well fold. They're not a SANFL club any more.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Those 'facts' are facts. Are you saying it's a fact that they have changed their position on those three elements?

I'm not quoting anything as 'fact',as like most people on here, we aren't privy to the 'facts'. What I am saying is that after the initial submission perhaps it was intimated to the club(s) that the proposal would come up against some strong opposition from the other 8 SANFL clubs and perhaps needs to be reviewed.

I agree that most people on here aren't privy to the facts. But some are.
But if you can only say 'perhaps' the initial submission has been reviewed, how can you say with such certainty that all the merger is off-field? Unless they have definitely changed their initial submission, the merger is on-field too.

Immigants! I knew it was them! Even when it was the bears, I knew it was them.

I believe that's right Booney in that it has been altered and the proposal now involves retaining the 'Magpies' name.

I know it is from last week's show now, but for those interested in having a listen, here is the podcast link to the Thursday Night Summer Sports Show where Chris Kendall and myself interviewed Maggies CEO Greg 'Megsy' Edwards.

Greg's interview is about a quarter of the way through this first half of the show.

It was mentioned this morning on 5AA that each of the SANFL clubs get to vote, yet also the Country Football Association has a vote in it as well - Rob Kerin is the President.
