Hondo is right. It's actually 'Lachlan' Ross and after Kevin Morris moved back to Melbourne he worked for Essendon, who promptly drafted Darren Bartsch and Ross. There's a photo online somewhere of Ross taking an absolute screamer at Footy Park.

I remember that photo too. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread.

Here he is in an Essendon team photo from 1994. Second from left, front row:

Lachlan Ross must have returned to West, because he also played a further 8 games for 4 behinds in 1996 for them.

Could it be Ian White, who I think played a few games for South after leaving North?

The South player is Peter McCarty. I used to work with him at the time and he was the butt of a number of jokes about that mark.

Ahh Peter McCarty. He was a good player for South. Where did he finish up after his SANFL career was over? I've got a small suspicion that he went to play in a country league, but more likely i think he played in the amateur league?
