DELISTED Carlton player Adam Hartlett has been charged with allegedly assaulting two teenagers outside a Glenelg South hotel on Christmas Eve.
Hartlett, 23, who has returned to West Adelaide after being delisted by Carlton at the end of last season, was arrested following an incident at the BP Service Station opposite the Holdfast Hotel at about 10.40pm.
A 19-year-old Somerton Park man sustained a cut above his left eye and a Seaview Downs man, also 19, had two teeth knocked out.
Sturt Police Senior Constable Mick Chipperfield confirmed that a 23-year-old Morphettville man had been charged with two counts of assault causing harm in relation to the incident and he would appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on March 16.
Hartlett, the older brother of rising Port Adelaide Power star Hamish, was selected by Carlton with pick 25 in the 2004 AFL Draft after shining in West’s juniors and at Sacred Heart College.
He debuted in 2007 and played 11 AFL games including three last year but was hampered by recurring hamstring injuries and delisted.
West Adelaide football operations manager Scott Turner said the club was aware of the incident but did not want to comment further.
