Agreed Wedgetail

Hopefully it comes out soon. Should be a good read.

In fact it would be great if books of this nature could be produced for all the SANFL clubs. I'd read them all

The book will have individual historical sections on West Torrens, Woodville and the merged club.
Probably have about 400 pages and 600 pictures.
It will be a quality book as you'd expect from the author of Pound For Pound and Pride Of The Bay - 2 of the best SA footy books ever written.

Has been nearly finished for quite awhile now according to David Burtenshaw. Was an issue with the board about a year or two ago but with new blood on the board now, I would expect to see some action soon. CD can you verify please?

Hi, David Burtenshaw here. Just thought I'd clarify a couple of things raised in this topic. Yes, a book called Best of the Both Worlds (the story of West Torrens, Woodville and the Eagles) will be released this season. It will be A4 size and hard cover with about 450 pages. There will be four parts - West Torrens from 1897-1944; Torrens from 1945-90; Woodville from the 50s through the 90; and then the Eagles. Peter Cornwall and I have interviewed about 100 former players and coaches for the book, so we focus strongly on their stories, and we have collected some great images. We have just started pre-press for the book so I'd like to think it will be out by May/June. There have been no issues with the Board but I will be chatting to the Club in the next couple of weeks because after all this time they have probably given up on us! Don't know how much it will cost to buy yet but I want to keep the price as low as we can so that it is accessible.

Excellent news David and thanks for replying.

I'm really looking forward to this and will be first in line to buy one :D

And extending this to what I said earlier....any chance you will do something similar for all the clubs?

I'm sure most SANFL fans would be interested to read and purchase books not only of their own club but of others as well

Thanks for your reply David. Am looking forward to it with great anticipation. I'm sure all the effort will be worth it, unlike your trip from W.A. to the G.F. in 2004!!

With the present good vibe around the club, I think it will sell very well and the release time will make it an ideal birthday present for me!

Very good of David to identify himself and give an update on this long awaited publication straight from the "horses mouth"
A joint effort from Peter Cornwall and David, both experienced journalists, will surely be an excellent addition to the SANFL record
I'm sure Eagles supporters will be most appreciative
