I had a post worked out when AU were gunna get beaten in the 2nd Test
I was gunna say
Unchanged team
Why ?
Becoz one of the reasons why AU has been top of the tree or thereabouts consistently is becoz of stability
By carrying players out of form it gives these and other players the confidence to feel secure and perform without added pressure
As a player being selected , you at least know that MOST times you will get a fairgo in the team

That old adage its harder to get into the side than out of the side is a maxim of sorts

Also go for the throat beat them 3-0
Be ruthless and go for the kill

NORTH is in the hot seat
Whilst I can see the Lightning Mcqueen logic in blooding a youngSTAR [like S SMITH] its the overall picture of giving the existing players some security is the criteria

Fair enough, not the same though, you watch North score a decent knock and prolong his spot for another year.

Cricket show the other day they compared Ponting to Steve Waghe as skippers and also the turnover of players and I believe Waghe was in the teens and Ponting double that!!

Do the exercise your selfe you could start with the current squad bar Pup.

And if he does he would deserve it. He batted quite well in England. What Northey needs to do though is to get past the bugger all or big score pattern he has had so far. Regular starts are what he should be looking for.

How many were young when they debuted? Turning players over isn't blooding youth mate.

Now that is a diffrent argument and all sport have this discussion.
But you dont give someone a go at top level just because they are young!!
You take them from the system that bloods them ie ss

The most recent debutants since 2007-08 season (current age / debut age):

Johnson 28 / 26
Rogers 32 / 30
Haddin 32 / 31
Casson 27 / 26
White 26 / 25
Siddle 25 / 24
Krezja 26 / 25
MacDonald 28 / 27
Bollinger 28 / 27
Hughes 21 / 20
North 30 / 29
Hilf 26 / 25
McGain 37 / 37
Maou 30 / 30
McKay 26 / 26

With a couple of exceptions that's a decent list of younger players coming in for the last 2-3 years. If you define "youth" as 20 then it's only Hughes but these days in cricketing careers I'd say 25-26 is still young.

Actually get into Hobart on day 3 of this Test! Can't wait to go for a look at Bellerive while the missus does other female things. I'll then be able to tick Bellerive off my list of places I've watched Test cricket. Which would make 2 in total... :D

I'd be defining "youth" as under 23. Each to their own though.

You lucky bugger. I reckon anyone who enjoys Adelaide Oval would enjoy Bellerive as well. Normally a decent batting deck and not the road it was a few years back. Should be a decent test match.

Without a doubt mate, if we were giving young fella's a game here and there during that period of domination they would be primed late 20ish players by now.
All BS aside, Ponting has probably been the only young fella that we given the opportunity to over the past couple of decades and what do you know, he's the world's leading runscorer ever.
Whether I'm right or wrong is a matter of opinion, I just think that we need 2 or 3 older heads, a majority in the 25 to 30ish category and 1 or 2 younger players. I am talking squad though and I do realize that you go with what you got and you don't pick players on age.
