They still do bush biscuits don't they???

They brought them back a while ago but only as a temporary thing. I bought stacks but now they're gone again sadly... Nothing better than 2 bushies with a slab of butter in between... mmm...

Yeah, used to buy them at primary school from the canteen.

Bush Biscuits are an original Menz Biscuit, along with Yo Yo's and the good old Fruchocs and Crown Mints. There are even some old Menz moulds for easter eggs hanging around the place.
Pretty sure the Bush Biscuit started being made in the early 1900's...perhaps 1905. The cutter was very old in 1977 when i began my 20 years at AMM...Arnott, Motteram Menz
The original cutter which was here at Marleston was shipped to papua New Guinea after arnotts deleted the product in 1990....because of national ranging by Coles and Woolies
At that stage Bush Biscuits were selling 90 ton a year.....only in SA and NT

About 5 years ago a batch of about 500 cartons were made and sent to SA and presold to Independents...Foodland and IGA. Very successful and it was done again recently and Coles and again the Independents had another crack.

Came in a 4 pack rather than the old 8 per pack or the full old Arnotts 2.5 kg tin.

They were also issued to our troops in Vietnam and when bullets were short they were thrown at the VC.

While I am remeniscing a couple of interesting facts..The Yo Yo was going to be a cream biscuit.and the honey tiny teddies are the same mix as yo yo. sao biscuits have 64 layers of dough
The original fouder of Arnotts went bankrupt very early in his career but when Arnotts took off, he repaid all his creditors. The trade mark Arnotts Parrot on his tee is all about Honesty.

cheers

I too mourned the death of the yumbo ... although if they still kept it going it would probably be the same size a 50c piece by now.

The little plastic hair trimmer devices you could put new sharp razor blades into.
I haven't paid a hairdresser in 30 years, mine is beginning to wear out, and I haven't been able to find a new one anywhere.
[No I'm not just mingy - I was always too busy to take time off work and started doing my own trimming at home on weekends.]
