recycling old computers

Postby Pseudo » Wed Dec 30, 2009 1:43 pm

goodpeople

I currently have a small amount of old electrical goods I want to chuck out, including an old computer & cathode ray tube monitor. Is there some place which recycles old computer gear where I could just dump the stuff? I want no money, I just want to offload the goods. I am in the Marion area.

Denron metals collected a photocopier from the cricket club a few months back, they may do the same with computer stuff.

... except they charge you for the pickup.

By the way, I suspect this is a gaping hole in the recycling market.

If only there was a deposit scheme to entice the bag ladies ...

We have a localish company that takes computers to refurbish for donation to small charity groups that can't afford much in the way of office equipment. Maybe if you don't have something similar you could have a look for a local charity group and offer the equipment to them...even if they don't work at the moment they might have an arrangement with someone who could repair it for them.

They appear to have a drop-off centre on Marion Rd, just around the corner from me. Hopefully this means I can take the junk in myself and avoid a collection fee. I'll give 'em a buzz the morrow. Thanks A Mum!

I was just going to say there are similar charities in Melbourne to those HH3 described above and I assumed there would be here.
