As of this stage there is still no mens coach named so do we dare to dream. "insert hazy dream sequence"....James "102' Neeson leads the Flinders boys to their first Hannigan Cup since 1989 and goes on to coach SA Seniors to first national title since 1983 with Benji "6 games for that" Dumovic leading the team as Captain, Dale 'Chocolate Locomotive' Agius coming across as mascott and Todd "LoveChild' Mcsorely being the midfielder/my room mate/pool boy. Stranger things have happened. Either way im hoping that Flinders boys will be well represented at the nationals in Auckland (check that spelling MG) come October.

Can I just say on the issue of team of the year players getting an invite to state, as someone who has been involved in the selection of the last three state teams, this has never once been mentioned to me. I think it is a folk tale based on the fact the girls use it as a way of sending invites for try outs. I seriously doubt you would find this written down anywhere. I personally think this should have no link to the state team. The state coach is not consulted for this and these things can often be political and reward consistency rather than talent. There are a lot of good players at St Mary's, who can and have made teams of the year, who are not upto state. There is no comparison between the styles, pressure, and ultimately level of fitness and skill required for state. I think it is a great way to reward form at St Mary's but it is not a state team.
O'Neills are a great club and O'Neills only and the Wristwatcher would know that there are a lot of people out there with a huge amount of respect for Paddy and the history of the club. As some of the O'Neills crew have mentioned, state invites and tryouts have been offered but not been taken. At the end of the day if a player wants to play state and he is good enough, he plays. I think we are starting to see O'Neills re-establishing themselves as an elite club and state representation is an important step for the club and individual players.

I will share with the love child after sharing a room with the wristwatcher in Melbourne... Wait, i change that, I want the wristwatcher where I can see him!
Ps Nev, there's a lot of people who may fancy themselves for a shot at the full back position. Maybe someone who won't be dominated by big Nick "the motorboat" Jolly! Gotta love technicalities!

I agree hole heartedly with you Major Gun, the Motorboat Nick Jolly is the best full forward in the comp at the moment. It's scary how good he could be with another year under the belt & armed with the control not to double bounce!
I think the challenge is on for you Nev, to match up 1 on 1 against the mighty #25.

Sounds good to me, I like a challenge and by the sounds of it he is a gun!
What would you consider a win for the full forward as apposed to a win for a full back? Points scored and/or amount of possession gained? Ultimately it is the job of the full forward to score the points for the team, what would be a par score in gaelic for a ff?
For arguments sake using the example of Afl. If Brendan Fevola had 35 possessions and didnt kick a goal would you consider his impact on the game as important as 10 kicks for 10 goals? And alternatively you would think that the full back had won the battle if Fevola had not kicked a goal yet had the 35 possessions?

People would be well aware that i milk (dont get excited Milko) between 2 and 10 frees a game only to have Kenny "Is that Big Bird" Fay to come and knock the points over. In the 90,s it was Jason "Cant grow sideburns" Fay in the Naughties its been KFay or Gabe "Listen to the Band " Phillips. Motorboat has been well mentored and will win a free and put it down for the team. Having said that he doesnt get too many frees. No one has been able to contain the boat so far this year and i reckon you would be a good match up as you have enough experience and leadership to put some sort of plan together. The boat is easily distracted by girls in bikinis or footy shorts and a bra tends to also break his concentration. Perhaps set a few distarctions up with the help of the lady Oneils and you never know, you may just run the motorboat into the shallows....The Bartoss V The Boat will be one of the best match ups in 2010
