They shouldve put you and SchnitzelMan as look-a-likes, the resemblance is amazing, can anyone else see it?
Although i know you are just good friends, after all he was in that obviously-not-fake Pioneer Newsteam photo with you. :)

Any ideas/thoughts.

Would they be allowed to be red, black and white like St Kilda (old Gerard colours - IIRC) or because these are the RFL colours this wouldn't be allowed.

I am sure Ramco were were told not red white and black. I guess this would not have changed. There is a lot of red and blue running around in the Indys. surely they wouldn't be allowed to use either of those colours.

What about navy with red yolk(as Melbourne) and BSR Bulls as attached on the front, sounds okay to me Same jumper as Pooraka Bulls.

Or because of the ex Perponda influence they could be the BSR Grass Parrots and where Perponda's light green, gold V with gold shorts.

Bit too close to MKFC I would have thought. I know they did play against Robertstown back in the day though.

If the navy/red is no good, there's room in that league for a Black/White combo, maybe a jumper as Collingwood or with BSR linked together(as the Carlton logo) in white on front with white trim, back with bottom half black, top half white with black numbers to get it away from East Murray and the BSR Magpies has a nice ring to it.
I'll design the jumper provided I get the job to manufacture them and I'll do 'em at a good price.

Mate there is no chance in hell you will see BSR in black and white with the recent history with Sedan. A heap people at the club hate those colours with a passion. As for manufacturing the jumpers you will find that already been taken care of – just got to decide the design.

So what about the navy/red idea?
Get your order in pretty quick if I were you, if they're being made by who I think, it'll take them about 8-10 weeks to get if past history is anything to go by.

Ooohhh, a bit cockiness to stir the other teams up. They won't like that at all. Especially the teams that didn't really want you there in the first place. ;)

Actually not cocky at all I actually think its going to be a big ask next year since we are going to loose some of good players due to distance. Can see us relying heavily on young guys that are coming through. I was just replying to a post that was making fun of us so I threw a bit back. If someone’s gona post a pic that says we are a team of girls I think its fair for me to throw a bit back.

As for colours the only ones I know of are the ideas I like and that’s the black and red and navy and red, but they are only suggestions I sent to a member of the committee. Will know more about it on the 13th

I dont think that colours are the issue, I think having a 14 round draw for a nine team competition is the major issue.

Mick Beech has said that to have two full rounds would result in a longer season and would leave a too smaller break between summer sports and the football season. This reasoning is as flawed as the draw itself considering that all clubs involved would have started their pre season training late January, early February.

A sixteen round draw including two bye weekends could be easily achieved adding 4 weeks of football to last years program.

1. As Easter 2010 falls in early April the season could begin on April 17 one week earlier than last year.

2. Saturday May 15 corresponds with Centenary weekend last year which is not applicable this year.

3. June 14 Queens Birthday weekend, traditionally no football played on this weekend as it is kept aside for interleague which does not affect Independents.

4. July 3 Would have been Independents V Mid Murray weekend no longer applicable. Some mention of playing Mallee FL however this would contradict the major concern of BSR joining - Independents playing against a team of paid players.

5. The finals could be pushed back two weeks so the grand final is played on September 20 one week after the Riverland grand final. I recall this was done in 1998 and 1997.

The proposal of a 14 round draw involving a split second round may be deemed as fair and equitable for the A grade but is it for the Colts, Netball and proposed under 13's.

Another area that needs some thought is the rivalry between certain clubs and the bigger crowds attracted to these games. East Murray V Wunkar, Paringa V Lyrup, Moorook V Wunkar, Moorook V Cobby are examples of these games and to lose a home game against a rival could result in serious consequence on an end of season balance sheet.

From this year BSR V Ramco, BSR v Wunkar and BSR V East Murray would most likely become rivalry round matches as well.

It should also be noted that when the Independent league formed in 1971 there were nine clubs involved who played two full rounds for 16 games in total plus finals. This applied for 1972 as well.

Finally congratulations on BSR joining the Independents can only make the competition stronger and more exciting.
