$59000 a year in benefits

Postby smithy » Mon Dec 28, 2009 9:53 pm

A MOTHER and father with an incredible 14 kids who prove Britain's benefits system has gone bonkers, showering them with a whopping tax-free £36,847 (US$58,815) a year in handouts.

Pregnant Dawn and Sean Cain's huge family, aged 21 years to 19 months, have just enjoyed a very merry Christmas, with every mouthful of their turkey dinner, and every present stuffed under their tree, paid for by taxpayers.

To match their breathtaking haul from the public purse Sean would have to clinch a job paying a gross salary of £51,500 ($82,200). Britain's average salary is just £21,320 ($34,000).

And although he is able, he's definitely not willing.

He and wife Dawn admit their New Year's resolution is never to find work, because no job they'd get in Britain's recession-hit economy will come close to paying the same.

Sean hasn't lifted a finger since 2003 when he took time off to help Dawn handle a problem with the kids. He soon realised he was better off on benefits and has stayed home ever since.

"With the social giving us £700 (US$1,100) a week why should I work for anything less? There's no point me even trying to look for a job. I've got a family of 15 to support," he said.

"People could call us scroungers, but what would they do in the same situation?"

And unlike most of Britain's workforce they're in for a payrise, as Dawn expects child number 15 in April.

The 20-a-day smoker, who has never worked since she became a mother at the age of 18, said, "People expect us to be scruffy and dirty because we're such a big family, but we're not.

"I look after my kids well and make sure we get by. And every Christmas I make sure they get everything they want."

This year, those taxpayer-funded gifts totalled £2,000 ($3,200) and included mobile phones, bikes, scooters, a camcorder, hair straighteners and a Wii games console.

a taxpayer-funded forcible sterilisation of the parents after the first 2 kids would have saved a fortune for British taxpayers in the long term.

Unfortunately our system does encourage many families to keep popping them out as well.
I'd be interested if anyone knows how much a family of 10 would get from Centrelink per fortnight.

It would take too much to work out.
As it goes by kids age, assets, income, blah, blah, blah.

And there's this payment for that, and that payment for this.... way too hard...lol.

O:)
You get what you give....

No worries Adolf. And why stop there? We can send them on one way trips to the 'Sanitorium' and we'll get rid of those gypsies while we're at it.

Irrespective of the payouts[and amounts paid] and the morality
There is a very good reason why parents should get these handouts
That being the welfare and upbringing of the children
The kids dont have a choice, they jump outa mummys insides into a real real world
To have parents deprived of $$$$ = the distinct possibilty that the kids could be underprivilleged, MALnourished and disadvanataged in life

Imagine a surreal world if you yourself are a kid in that environment

The $$$ is a neccessity for the future of any kid
A roof over a kids head, and food on the table is why the $$$ is given out

I reckon it's stuff all money for 14 kids! I doubt they be exactly living the life of luxury.
I did a quick calculation and a jobless couple with 14 kids here would get about 75k per year. I certainly couldn't raise 14 kids on that, mind you I'm so irresponsible with money I doubt I could raise 1 kid on that!

When I was 13 I came to the conclusion that the solution to overpopulation and welfare dependency was to screen everyone at 11 or 12 and sterilise the stupid.
I agree it sounds draconian, and would not be an easily acceptable solution. But is there a better one?

It was prompted by studies right back then, showing those with lower than the average IQ were already rapidly out-breeding the rest of the population in many countries, while other studies suggested one needed a higher than average IQ to function in a modern technological or administrative environment, rather than a tribal society.
It may explain the popularity of tribal activities like following football, idolising mediocre mass music entertainers, and getting drunk at every opportunity.

HALF THE TROUBLE
We have a situation in Adelaide at present, for a family of seven

On Xmas eve mother a 32 yo Adelaide mother of seven had her children taken away by authorities
Here are some selected quotes and snippets

""Absolutely let down ."

repeatedly asked Families SA and other govt depts to help her for feed and house her children as she faced crippling financial difficulties

said Families SA has given one cheque for $79 for groceries [in 5 years]

been told her situation ' not desperate enough'

house deemed on thursday not fit to be a home for her children

co operated with police after they responded to a call for her assistance in a domestic dispute between her former partner and her father- also residents at the house

relinquished her children because she did not want to traumatise them on the condition they were not seperated

_________________

The rest of the article is about the state of the house
And alledgedly the kids being split up into other homes
The kids are aged betwen 22 months to 13 years old
Other sources report the kids have been left alone for up to 4 days at a time

SUMMARY
Im not at liberty to give an opinion on whats happened
But I will ask what kind of life the kids have had and will have, basically thru no fault of thier own
