A very good last session led by Kallis saw the Saffies finish on 4/262.

Kallis 112*. This could be a very interesting series.

Watched this last night and boring it was!!

This may sound harsh but watching Kallis is like watching paint dry! this bloke has made s***t loads of runs but at a strike rate of 40 does he play for the team or red ink

You do realise this is day 1 of a test match?

And he actually he scored at a SR of 55 which was the highest out of any South Africans for the day. Terrific innings.

Plus, SA got sent in, so clearly its not the best wicket to bat on! Definitely does not play for himself. Yeah it may be a bit boring, but it was hard fought day of test cricket!

It makes me laugh when people say 260 in a days play is boring cricket.................i think it is great seeing a true battle between bat and ball and runs not being so easy to come by. Far from boring for me, if you want them to score quicker watch a T20 or one dayer.

South Africa A finished the day 1/88 in reply to South Africa's 418.

The South African tail hung around which really hurt England. The final four wickets took England 45 overs to capture at the cost of 102 runs.
This situation is where England will really miss Flintoff. In days of old (4 months ago!) he could be counted on to come on and blast the tail out, which he did so effectively. Instead England had to resort to using Stuart Board as the new 'enforcer', who may be a decent bowler but unfortunately is about as intimidating as a fluffy baby rabbit.

63.5 Anderson to Duminy, OUT, big appeal, given out, and it's gone to review. Swinging back a fraction into Duminy and strikes him in front, it looks very close. Replays show it clipping the top of the stumps. Duminy thought he could have inside-edged it, but there is no clear evidence to suggest he did.
