The ball went behind square therefore the non strikers call.

Edit: Watching a replay with sound from the stumps mic, there is no call at all from Watson and being his call he only has himself to blame.

Watching the replay it was my impression there was a short call of yes albeit pretty hard to hear and then both set off with Katich then turning around and ball watching while Watto was just coasting to what he thought to be an easy single then a frustated KAT! at the end in bewilderment.

Bad cricket by both but Katich more to blame IMO.

I am backing Punter to make a 100 here.

I was waiting for Watson to go back when Katich was not committed to the run. Instead he just tried to beat Kat back to that crease.

No he didn't.

They both just jogged there, No rush by either of them.

Well it seems pretty unanimous from the commentators that it was Watson's call and i agree with them. Not sure how much cricket you've played but i'm glad i haven't had to run between the wickets with you.

Alright, scratch the last sentence. I thought Watson would go back when he saw Katich go back.

Not the commentators I'm hearing. We've already been given a quote from cricinfo here blaming Katich, Geoff Lawson agrees with me that it was Katich's call and I have played cricket, and there's nothing worse than people who were told at 12 it's the non striker's call behind square because you lose runs. They tell you later if you go on and get decent coaching that so long as the striker has a clear view of the ball it's the striker's call until it's a long way behind square.

The big big problem - so much of a deal is made of advancing your score by one run.

Just happens to be from a two figure score to a three figure score.

Because the way that Ponting and Hussey were going, Clarke will swing at a wide one and nick and we'd be 4 down at the close of play. Let him come out fresth tomorrow.
